Merchant Cannock — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

We entered the Merchant cautiously following the poor quality and attitude of other Cannock establishments wholly expecting to experience the same. We were surprised to find a happy, helpful and energetic team who genuinely felt for our well being and opinion of the establishment. It was clean, well managed and socially warm and welcoming. The staff went on to further surpass expectations. A welcome smile, a bit of banter and a fantastic pint is something I've not experienced locally before in one night, not to this excess and consistency. The food on offer again was beyond our expectations, and once ordered, proved to be as described in the menu. Service was fast and delivered to a high standard. Special thanks to Sammy the bar made who made us feel welcome and happy to accommodate the bar for repeat refills (the point of a successful bar is repeat purchase) She was polite, helpful and intuitive, showing a genuine concern for our experience and opinion.

Would never go back again! I went for a meal with my fiancé and friends I booked our table weeks prior for half 7 and they sat us right by the front door, on really tall table that is just meant to be for drinks we asked to move table because we wasn’t going to be able to eat our food. Then when ordering drinks it took at least half an hour to be served, it wasn’t that busy there was only one person serving, it took us that long to order drinks we picked and order food at the same time because we didn’t think we would get served again. Once the food arrived they turned down the lights and started a disco and it was only half 8 we couldn’t see our food or talk to each other because the music was so loud. Also when ordering our drinks the bartender said she will bring them to our table, we had waited and all eaten our food before our drinks arrived despite asking serveral times where our drinks were. I went for lunch today and used the app to order. After 15 mins drinks not arrived...complained and they were brought over. When food arrived my order was wrong and the waitress said she would take it and rectify as soon as possible. My mum finished her pie (which was so tasteless she thought she had developed covid) and my wrap had still not returned. Half an hour later I still had no food! I could've made it myself in under 5 minutes! When it eventually arrived it was not worth the wait. Cold, sloppy and with what looked like day old chips that had been reheated! Whilst I was waiting the surrounding tables had trouble of their own. One girl got the wrong food twice before giving up and leaving it.
