Mine and my husbands first time at this cafe and sadly our last due to the unwelcome attitude of the lady running it. We are new to Cannock and were looking for somewhere for a nice breakfast and coffee while we waited to pick our son up from his first day at nursery. We were impressed by the nice looking outdoor seating area and went in. It was busy so the only tables left were upstairs which was fine but we felt it didn't have the same nice atmosphere that made us want to go in. After a quick check of the menu and a check of the time we decided we wouldn't have enough time for breakfast before we needed to leave so we went back downstairs and ordered a drink each to take out. When we ordered our drinks the lady running the place sighed at us and without a word to us, passed the order to the waitress. As we left I stopped outside at one of the empty tables to put my change away and my husband temporarily sat down while I did it. We can't have been there more than 20 seconds when the same lady came out and told us we couldn't sit there if we had ordered a take away and it was for the customers who were staying and paying. I explained politely that I was only putting away my purse but got no response, she just went back inside. We felt so unwelcome after this that we definitely wont be coming back. Sad because I had just said to my husband that I would much rather give my money to an independent business...
Read moreThe least you expect from an establishment is that they’re polite and attentive. Food can fluctuate and mistakes can happen but to make your clientele feel like they’re putting you out by being there is dreadful.
For a start, Staff rudely spoke to a member of our party when going to the toilet, not even having the courtesy to address them directly but instead making a snide remark when they walked past, same member of staff locked the door to stop people coming in, (but also locking customers in), a fire hazard if I ever saw one. Food was served on chipped plates, also refused permission for two young children (who didn’t wish to eat, merely have an ice cream) to sit down, despite the fact we would, as their guardians, have drunk and eaten once seated, unfortunately they seemingly fail to realise that you tend to the kids needs first as parents rather than your own.
I hate places like this, they seem convinced of their own importance rather than trying to encourage new business.
We spent close to £40, would have spent closer to £60 if allowed and also supported their cause by purchasing a home made toy for...
Read moreMy husband and I had a terrible experience at this café. I ordered poached eggs on toast and when it arrived the eggs were way overdone, the yolks were pale and powdery. They were inedible. I brought the issue to the attention of the waitress and she informed another, older woman, not sure if this was Hannah. Anyway this woman came over and asked what the problem was. I explained the eggs were overcooked and tried to show her how hard the yolks were by pressing them. At this point she snapped at me, 'Stop poking it, I can see for myself they're overdone'. Then she took the plate and walked off, and I thought 'How rude!' They made the dish again but offered no apology. The whole experience made me uncomfortable and awkward, and I...
