The Saxon Shore - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Canterbury

Visted here on Sunday 17th July for some dinner after a day on the beach. First impression as I walked in was terrible, every single table was filthy. As a party of 6 there wasn’t many tables to chose from, but we found one near the door and then started to order our food. First round of drinks came no problem. However while serving us the second round of drinks, the waiter had insisted we moved table as we infront of the door, even though the table was already there. We had just sat there. We explained that we had already ordered food to this table, the waiter was very rude and tried seating 6 of us on a table made for 4. However there was 1 other table of 6 free so we sat there. The food started to arrive for some of us, we asked a waiter if the other people food was almost ready as our food was sitting getting cold. His reply was very rude. But eventually brought out our food. After taking a few bites of my burger, it tasted funny, I looked inside the burger and it was red throughout. Was not cooked properly at all!! I went up and showed the people behind the bar and they didn’t not seem to care, But went and got a manager. The manager was rude yet again, brushing the incident off, saying mistakes are made and not understanding the importance of making sure food is cooked properly. But I managed to get a refund. I Suffered horrible stomach pain the next day, throwing up etc. Safe to say I will not be returning here. Would not recommend...

I give this a 1 star because 0 wasn't an option. I would avoid this place. on arrival we managed to get a table that had the previous customers empties on it, our drinks were ordered to the table, the waiter looked so grumpy, dumped them down, and did not remove the empties. Later on I ordered drinks again through the app, ( I had only had 4 drinks) sat there for 20 minutes pub was very quiet by this time. I went to the bar to find out where they were to be told the table had been blocked, because someone on the table had, had enough. My friend is a naturally louder talking person yes tipsy but by no means was she drunk. The annoyance here is that she was allowed to sit and continue drinking the pitcher she had purchased previously, and they even refilled it, because the jug was leaking ,ut the other two of us were not allowed another drink. The customer service here is, well there isn't any. I will never go here again I would rather sit and...

Love Wetherspoons,(all of them ) they bring social life back.Obviously we can moan about certain things but overall my cup of tea,and I always sing their praises where ever I go.Have been looking at various reviews and I am at a loss to understand just what overall people want or expect from a pub,because this is ( I believe ) is Tim's initial aim to cling to. Public houses have always been places for people the general populace to meet up laugh,grieve,and reminise.Our governments have slowly and surely taken this away from us as have our parks and community centres.So to get back to where I started,give thanks to Wearherspoons for bringing socialising back and topping it up with food and family at very affordable prices. We as I have said earlier can all moan because we are all individuals but if you want top cuisine go to where it is served and be prepared to pay for it.Tim has got it spot on.Please don't change,you are a man of the people...
