Placed in the Canterbury centre, Tiny Tim’s is one of the most recommended places, if you are willing to have a good hot tea time surrounded by a typical British atmosphere. The traditional tea is great, and you can choose to drink it with a large variety of English typical dishes. Even though it’s almost a “tourist attraction” and one of the Canterbury city centre highlights, I found the service not really tourist-friendly. When I asked what kind of cakes there were, the waiter couldn’t explain the ingredients they were made of, and thought we already knew each cake’s name. My friends and I speak English very well but we couldn’t understand almost everything, and he didn’t even bother explaining what they were in a simpler way. However, when we decided to have the simplest, legendary, chocolate cake, they said there weren’t enough slides, so we had to change our order (and try to understand which other types of cake there were). One of my friends then had the vegan version of the previous chocolate cake, but at the end, we all found out it wasn’t as vegan as they told us. Fortunately none of us was really vegan and overall we had a good experience, but, when we took a more accurate look around, we immediately realised there were too many tables and not enough space. Our table was literally attached to the other ones, and it was almost impossible to walk without bumping into other costumers, especially while paying at the till. Although the building is noticeable old, sadly I have to say that there were a few details that ruined the “vintage British English tea room vibes”: plastic bottles placed in different places of the room, which were probably forgotten by everyone, and not been taken away. Even if we had a few other problems while paying, the price was fair. Tiny Tim’s was a necessary stop during our Canterbury city tour, and I would absolutely recommend it, but, to be honest, from what I had heard, I was expecting a...
Read moreTiny Tim’s Tearoom in Canterbury is a delightful hidden gem. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a charming vintage atmosphere in a historic, haunted‑charm building with character and a friendly welcome. Customer service is consistently warm and efficient, creating a welcoming ambiance that adds to the experience .
The food and drinks offer excellent value. The signature scones are enormous, freshly made, crumbly with a lovely outside crunch, and served with generous clotted cream and jam—enough to satisfy even hearty appetites . Many reviews highlight the portion sizes as more than sufficient, even too big for one person, yet well worth it for the price (around £14–£19 for an afternoon tea or cream‑tea set) .
Their teas and coffees are thoughtfully selected, including a house‑blend that customers love, and there’s a varied menu offering breakfast, lunch and desserts—most of which are praised for being tasty and generous .
Add in the quirky touches—like a ghost‑room upstairs and occasional background piano— and this cosy spot becomes more than just a tearoom; it’s a memorable Canterbury experience. All in all, Tiny Tim’s offers superb quality, good pricing, and a welcoming atmosphere perfect for visitors or locals wanting a...
Read moreWas greeted as soon as we walked in by a friendly employee and offered a table inside. It's a quaint cute little tea room. Service was quick and very efficient, all the staff friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly and was way above expectations. The menu is bigger than expected. There is breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea menus. Good selection of teas and coffees. Great value for money and incredibly tasty. The scrambled eggs were delicious and the scones were amazing. Really good coffee. My friend ordered cream tea for one which came with two scones and enough tea for probably around 3/4 cups, he took one of the scones home for later as the scones really are filling (coming from the guy who skipped breakfast so we could eat here at lunch!) There was a man playing a piano which was nice to hear / see. Toilets are on the top floor but there seems to be only one per gender so maybe a wait to use if it's busy. You can dine inside, there's a few tables outside the front and there was a garden out the back with several tables (but we not being used by the looks of it for some reason). I chose to purchase an extra scone as take out for my lunch tomorrow. Highly recommended & I'll be back when I next...
