Fioro Lounge — Restaurant in Cheltenham

We have eaten at Fioro lounge many times. Unfortunately I have to say that the quality has been declining over the last two years and today was an absolute low point.

I ordered a Bang Bang Cauliflower noodle dish with Carrey, pak choi, sugar snaps and broccoli stems.

I’ve had the dish before and actually been quiet satisfied.

When my dish came there was no trace of sugar snaps or broccoli stems. On the other hand there was trace of a single lead of pak choi and it’s chopped stem and a few bands of carrot. The bang bang cauliflower was burnt and overcooked. No sesame seed and no chili. The sauce was bland and clearly not as described.

I went back in to the bar and expressed my dissatisfaction and the waitress took my plate. Shortly after she came back to my table and informed me that the chef assured that there were both broccoli stems and sugarsnap in it. They were just so finely chopped that you couldn't see them?!! I have never experienced anything so ridiculous!! Not only were there ABSOLUTELY no trace of them and considering that was half of the vegetables in the dish I wonder how you be seriously saying that it is so finely chopped that the customer can see it?!!!!

The waitress said I could have some tenderstems and sugarsnaps in a bowl on the side “on them”. Are you kidding??? They were a part of the dish I didn’t get. I ended up saying yes only because it was SO embarassing for the waitress. Imagine a chef who lies directly to their colleagues face and make her lie directly to the customers face?

It is simply unappealing and I have never experienced anything like it. I now deeply regret that I did not go back to the kitchen myself and ask the chef if they would be kind enough to tell me where they saw the peas and broccoli stems!

Not only has the quality of the food gone down but now the chef makes the waitress lie directly to the paying customer. What a horrible team spirit and bad working environment. It would have been kind and wise … and honest!! for the chef to just to say: oh - sorry about that. I made a mistake. Here you go. - new dish!! Instead the chef acted condescending and also lied to custoumer and their colleague. Embarrassing! Not coming back to eat at...

Popped in with family over the weekend as the rest of the town was heaving and this seemed to be the only non rowdy place available. We opted for outdoor seating, I loved the selection of crafts & colouring that was out for the children (great life saver when trying to eat!) but unfortunately we found the service here quite frosty, we received half a greeting and handed some menus (no kids menus even though we clearly had a 5 year old), sat down to realise this so had to go back inside and ask for one, then when we ordered on my phone someone came out and said ‘excuse me who is it with the allergies, erm you need to order at the bar so I can put it through properly’. How about telling us this when handing us the menus? When we finally ordered I kindly asked the waitress if we could have a jug of water for the table, she then turned and said ‘sorry it’s a dispenser it’s in there’, she could clearly see I was holding my newborn baby and my hands were quite full it’s really no hardship to run in and get us a jug of water. The food was just ok nothing special and nothing I would come running back to have especially after that kind of service, the staff just gave us the feeling that they couldn’t be bothered to be there which is...

Having arrived around 6pm in a group of four we had a choice of tables to choose from. A polite colleague explained the ordering process; which I felt was fine.

The decor is outstanding and there is a great atmosphere, welcoming of children and dogs. This didn’t bother me but I understand it may not be for everyone; if that is the case I’d suggest researching beforehand. Food arrived in great time. I had the Lounge Burger and friends had Tapas, which everyone enjoyed. The prices are very reasonable and the dishes of great quality.

I note a reviewer mentioned about the inability to book tables unless in a table of 8 or more. We stayed for a good few hours and didn’t see anyone turned away due to lack of seating so perhaps the poster might of given the place a try and really liked it, instead of getting upset at not getting what they wanted right away.

Five Stars all around, the only constructive criticism I would make was the music was just ever so slightly too loud and it could do with being turned down.
