Stay at Beaumount House was short but pleasant. The house is located close to the city centre, with a small car park on the side (spaces for electric charges including) and a small playing area for kids. It's the first time we had to use self-checking, it was a smooth process but during the stay I would prefer to have staff around. The house is cosily decorated, in neutral colours, with a dining tables in one room and lounge with sofas, tv, coffee tables, honesty mini bar which is a great idea. The room was small but cosy. It smelled funny though, a little funghi smell to be honest. But the room was very clean, same as bathroom. The bed was super comfy. There were lots of shelves for clothes storage, iron and ironing board, hair dryer in the room. Kettle, mugs, Clipper coffee and tea provided. And mini fridge. Unfortunately the acoustic was poor, we could hear everything and people's conversations in other rooms. The breakfast was... Not breakfast at all. Full fat sugary muffins (3 flavours for your choice), 2 types of chocolate bars, 2 flavours of small fruit juices, coffee/tea/hot chocolate. It's rather snack bar than breakfast. I understand that there are good places to get breakfast nearby but that's not the point. I'm not going to rate service/staff as we didn't have any interactions with staff, didn't see them either. House manager was available on the phone.

Great stay. On site parking which you pay additional daily fee. No breakfast but they have available muffins, cereal bars, cartons of drinks and coffee to go. Lots of attention to detail in the room i.e toiletries, iron/board, fridge with a couple of bottles of water. Large lounges (one as a children’s play area. Plates, glasses and cutlery available for eating takeaways etc. There’s also a honesty bar. Great communication prior to arrival and on departure. Self check in /out, very easy and efficient. There’s a on call service if there’s any problems. Rooms serviced every day.

Nice hotel in a good looking, 1800’s house. Self check-in is practical via a user-friendly machine at the entrance. You almost don’t see anyone which is quiet and it is also well taken care of. You have a dining room, veranda, kids playground and enough space to chill. Rooms are super clean and simply furnished. 15 min walk from Cheltenham center and is located in a cozy neighbourhood.

We stayed for one night in early August, to break a long journey from Wales back home. The house is in a great location, easily accessible by car, with plenty of parking and a gentle walk from Cheltenham town centre. Pubs, bars and restaurants are all a few minutes' walk away. Check-in was via a kiosk in the entrance porch and worked fine. There were no staff visible but we didn't need to speak to anyone. We had been allocated room 16, down one flight of stairs on the lower ground floor. The room is modern, bright and has a nice little en-suite. The bed was comfortable and the room is well-equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, plus water in a small fridge.

However, there is one major drawback of the room we stayed in: the wall between our room and the adjoining room (17) has pretty much no soundproofing. Not only could we hear the guests in room 17 talk (no secret conversations to be had in rooms 16 and 17!), but their TV and bathroom use was also very audible. Of course, we understand that soundproofing is rarely perfect in hotels, particularly in older buildings, but here, it really was non-existent. It also made us very conscious of moving about. We had earplugs so we managed to sleep fine. So it wasn't a major problem but not something we expected.

Beaumont House also provides two spacious guest lounges, with bar facilities (we didn't use them) and tea/coffee facilities with some snacks provided for breakfast time. There is no breakfast service, though - something we were clearly told at the time of booking. It didn't bother us, as we could have gone to one of several nearby cafes (although we had muesli bars so only had those).

Overall, a convenient and nicely-appointed small place for an overnight stay, but the soundproofing between rooms needs improving (creating) before we would consider...

This is quite a hard review to write, because the hotel and experience were all fine, particularly for the price, which was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. However the one thing that I can't get past is that Beaumont House is listed as a 5 start hotel, which it clearly isn't. In all fairness, I didn't see the stars listed or mentioned on the premises, just online, so it might be a mistake, but this should be updated as very misleading. I would certainly be scoring much higher if it was listed as a 2 or 3 star establishment, which is what you are getting. The self-service check in was OK, and worked, although I would still prefer some form of human interaction when arriving. Luckily I did find someone to talk to, and they were very helpful and my room was ready early, which was a bonus. The room itself was fine, though a bit dated and dark, being at the top of the hotel. Again the sort of room one would expect in a Travelodge, rather than a boutique hotel. It was clean, and the bed comfortable. As others have pointed out, there is no breakfast service at all - just help yourself to some cartons of juice, make yourself a tea or coffee, and a few breakfast bars or a muffin. All fine for those in a rush, or having to leave super early before breakfast starts, etc. but again not acceptable for a boutique hotel, and a million miles from a 5 star experience. Again no one about in the morning, apart from a very pleasant person cleaning the rooms, who I had a quick chat to. As I say, Beaumont House is hard to review, as nothing essentially wrong, and I would stay there again at the price point I was offered, but it almost felt like a do-it-yourself hotel from check-in to breakfast to leaving. I can't recommend it if one was looking for any kind of luxurious or boutique...

Were in town after a very long and tiring journey and had been let down in choice of another hotel, so this really was a last minute booking.|Had never stayed anywhere without a host but everything went perfectly. The automatic booking-in on arrival was quick, smooth and efficient. Just type your name and booking reference onto a screen and out pops your card key, which you drop into a box on departure. |Our room No. 12 was on the second floor. Everywhere was very spacious as we would expect in a house of this age and style. Beautifully furnished in an understated way. Excellent quality, crisp, white bedlinen (important to us), everywhere spotlessly clean and a lovely, spacious, modern bathroom that had been thought through, so the lovely style didn't outweigh the functionality. And with sufficient space to place all you could want. (Bliss). We each had a large fluffy white bath sheet, and here comes my only tiny gripe - we had one hand towel between us where one each would have been welcomed by me for wrapping head in after hair wash. The room had a hairdryer and TV with all channels and networks; sufficient sockets and big mirrors in all the right places. Tea/coffee making facilities and a fridge with milk and bottled water. |On the ground floor 2 beautiful and light living rooms, both with comfortable seating. One with a well stocked bar and honesty box. The second with tables and chairs, cereals, juices and pain au chocolate type rolls and all you need to make tea/coffee, so guests could help themselves to breakfast. |Excellent off road parking outside the front door amidst well-tended shrubbery and grounds. |Beaumont House is of an exceptional standard and we would recommend it without any...
