Pho in Cheltenham, is fast becoming a regular haunt for the family. I like Vietnamese food and the flavour combinations, and this restaurant does it well.
From the entrees list: the seafood spring roll is tasty and the chunks of seafood are delicious and decadent, the other spring rolls are great too. The beef mix in the betel leaves is a bit dry, but when mixed with enough sauce and other ingredients it’s still okay.
My favourite thing at this place is by far and away the Vietnamese pancake, it’s an evening only option and not every evening as twice now I haven’t been able to have it - but ask and if they can do it and there is more than one person - definitely get it it’s awesome.
There’s usually lots of herbs and dipping sauces with each dish. There is also fish sauce and plenty of different types of chilli on the table, so you can adjust the flavours to your liking. If you like spicy, you can turn up the spice to your heart's content with each dish if you like.
Pho takes pride in catering to all, boasting a largely gluten-free menu and a good range of vegetarian delights, including “THIS isn’t chicken” and tofu alternatives on most menu items. It makes it a good choice if you want to accommodate different dietary requirements and options.
For mains, I got the Pho house special with prawns, chicken, and flash-fried steak in a rich, savory broth is a symphony of flavors that truly sings with the addition of herbs and chilli.
We also got the wok-fried noodles with lemongrass, garlic, and chilli and the three-meat rice bowl - it came with some crunchy radish and pickled veggies, both these courses were refreshing with well balanced flavours.
The staff are friendly and answered my questions and made some good recommendations to our group. Everyone in our group left full and very happy and glad we chose to go in.
There are a lot of food options in the Brewery Quarter - lots of pizza, burgers. pub style food and carbs on carbs with a side of dairy and a bowl of chips. Pho is relaxed, friendly and feels like a healthier option compared to the others, but definitely doesn’t sacrifice on taste. There is a bar and a good range of...
Read moreWhat a truly exceptional experience at PHO Cheltenham! From the moment I walked in, I felt an incredible 110% welcome – a feeling that's all too rare these days. The atmosphere is simply beautiful, creating the perfect backdrop for what turned out to be an unforgettable meal.
The food itself is nothing short of excellent and authentically delicious. Every dish I tried was packed with flavour, transporting me straight to Vietnam. A special shout-out must go to the fact that their chicken is halal, which is a huge plus and something I truly appreciate.
I was also impressed by the cleanliness of the restaurant. The dining area was spotless, and the WC facilities were equally well maintained. It's clear that attention to detail extends to every corner of PHO Cheltenham, creating a truly comfortable and pleasant dining environment for all. I also noted the presence of accessible facilities, making it a welcoming place for everyone.
What truly made my visit special were the staff, especially Gigi and Alex. They were absolutely fantastic – so positive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their energy was infectious, and they genuinely went above and beyond to ensure I had a wonderful time. They're a credit to PHO Cheltenham. I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the manager, who was equally brilliant and clearly cultivated such a welcoming environment. The price point is just right for the quality and experience you receive. For those driving, the NCP Brewery Quarter car park is conveniently located within easy walking distance.
I highly recommend PHO Cheltenham to everyone, whether you're dining with family or friends. It's a truly family-safe environment. A massive thank you once again to Gigi, Alex, and the manager! See you all again with the rest of the family .
Thank you for making our evening...
Read moreVery disappointing first time visit.
We arrived for our 4pm, (confirmed) bank Holiday Monday reservation, to find they had lost this from their system. Luckily it wasn't busy.
We were seated and waited ... & waited ... & eventually we had to stop a waiter, (who advised us he was on his break) to get our drinks and menu choice order taken.
We then waited ... & waited ... & eventually our starters arrived, when we asked where our drinks were, it was almost too much trouble for the waiter, who discovered they had been prepared but left at the bar :(
Having finished we waited ... & waited for the dishes to be cleared, and that only happened when a waiter came over with our main courses & discovered he couldn't place them on the table.
The wok fried rice with chicken & prawn was a dissapointment, it had only a single flavour, and would have been better as a smaller portion, with a vegetable accompaniment.
The Rice bowl was a better choice.
The noodle soup was a good choice, however having told the waiter originally that it was our first visit, the recipient struggled picking the noodles up with chop sticks & with no waiter in sight for a fresh choice of cutlery , eventually gave up.
Having finished, again we struggled to find a waiter to prepare & deliver the bill ... which arrived with the service charge already included, which I've always thought a sharp business practice.
You could tell the waiter really didn't want to ask if we had enjoyed ourselves, which is ok because I get to tell you here anyway !
Sad to see sexism alive and well in this restaurant, where a party of 6 young girls received far more attention from the male...
