KFC Banbury Cross Retail Park — Restaurant in Cherwell District

If I could leave a negative score it would be -5 or more. Popped in as a "treat" with our granddaughter before we returned home the following day. Staff were friendly enough, bit robotic due to the number of customers, so regimented not unfriendly, and no time to do the job properly. You would imagine that they are doing something right as it was pretty busy (6.30pm). But whatever happened to 'finger licking good' no juicy chicken, no carcass and no skin, just hard baked coating direct on to a small, very small, piece of chicken. Three pieces meal deal. Got three pieces of chicken, way overcooked and dry each measured no more than 10cm x 5cm that came with some chip that were equally dry. Asked for tomato ketchup- was told it was in the bag. What was in the bag was spiced mayo, not the same and unpalitable for a young teenager. No seasoning either, nothing to clean your hand afterwards, all came in at just under £8. Scandalous. Hand sanitation at both entrances were empty. Toilets, male and female in same area we pretty standard for a busy place, but the smell was terrible; problems with the drains, clearly needing attention. I have to question the level of hygiene and query the quality and safety of the food. This outlet is left to run by youngsters, whoever is supposidly managing this is cutting corners to make more profit. Another scandal and something will have to give sooner or later they needs to get their act together and manage properly before something serious happens, or, is it that because people of a certain age use it makes it acceptable? Shambolic.

After shopping at Banbury Cross retail park, my family and I decided to visit the new KFC to have some food. It was an experience we regret and, personally, I wouldn't repeat if you paid me.

The first thing you notice as you walk through the door is the shiny new computerised ordering terminals - we've used these before in McDonald's so they were nothing new. We completed our order and made payment through a debit card, being assigned an order number to watch for on the 'Ready to Collect' screens. It was only after around 15 minutes of waiting for the number to pop up we realised something was awry. Upon making an enquiry with staff, we were informed 'No order was sent through' and received no apology (as a software engineer, I'm unsure how a system could malfunction in such a way but freak errors happen and I accepted it).

After asking staff to provide the order, they obliged and we received the majority of our food. After waiting for so long just to receive the food, we were hungry and just ready to eat so we - at first - failed to realise the lack of our dips. Again, we visited the counter to ask for them - one Garlic Mayo and one Sweet Chili dip - before being told 'we've run out of sweet chili' and being given 2 garlic mayo. Again, we received no apology.

When we finally managed to sit down and eat our food, the fries and popcorn chicken was cold. Fed up by this point, we made no further complaint to the in-store team and adopted the philosophy to 'grin and bear it', getting out of the restaurant as quickly as we could once finished.

I am a regular customer this time i was disappointed on this particular visit, maybe i should have gone at a earlier time in the day it was somewhere around 9 pm. Orderd chicken strips meal with a large gravy. Then cashed in my free chicken strips x3 or 4 reward fron the App to sit in and eat. Then I had a phone call to get a take away pop corn chicken with a krushum. Unfortunately the malteaser one was unavailable so had to go for the milkybar one. Then a zinger meal without mayo with cheese. (this customisation was correct so at Least my lads were happy when i got home) Unfortunately the chicken strips were not moist and succulent like they usually are on daytime visits, they were hard crispy around the edge's like they had been cooked ages ago and left somewhere to keep warm. The gravy was like water, never experienced this before and then to top it off the game that you pick the hammer with on the app couldn't have been working how it should as i choose one and snother hammer was chosen??? Msybr thetr was grease on my fingers that got on to the phone screen So Not sure how that happened, had i won by mistake i would have been happier i guess. Oh well cant win them all. Im sure ill be back with my fingers crossed for a better experience as im hoping this is a one off and not that their standards have dropped.
