Mutiara Restaurant — Restaurant in Chesterfield

Overall highly dissatisfied! As group of 6 adults and 3 kids, arrived at half past 6, and service was abysmal! We were served 3 starter platters over 3hours!(I'd say it took around 10 minutes for us to actually get through each platter) so roughly 50minutes between each! Though the food was very nice overall! One of our party decided to complain about this service to be met with an extremely rude "manager"! After 10 or so minutes of her being aggressive, rude and threatening with calling the police a young lady called Joanne took over, she was extremely apologetic and polite and explained that they were very short staffed(not mentioned prior, and while a multitude of justeat/delivery drivers were in and out). Joanne told us she didn't actually work there and was helping out her Auntie (the "manager") and even Joanne was met with her Auntie having ago at her, in front of customers! Expect to be there for some time. We were a party of 10 with 4 young children and chose an early enough time so they could eat and get home to bed. Nearly 3 hrs sat there and had 3 starter platters. i have eaten in many chinese retaurants over the years - many in chinatown in London where you have to queue for an hour or more to get in - most of the queue being chinese people - which to my way of thinking is a big recommendation. Anyway to the Mutiara. I have eaten there many times and hopefully visiting again very very soon. The service, the meals and the staff are all wonderful. It ranks way up there with most of the chinese restaurants I have eaten in previously. The buffet that is cooked to order is a wonderful way to eat - beats having to walk around picking food out of a line of food waiting in hot plates. you can genuinely have a much as you can eat - ordering time after time from the menu. I particularly recommend their salt and pepper squid, divine, tender and so so tasty. Do not pay too much attention to the two very negative reviews; they may be accurate in their perception of the Mutiara but in reality they are genuinely no reflection on...
