The Boythorpe Inn — Restaurant in Chesterfield

I haven't been to this pub a long time ago, we decided to try it as we wanted food at 7:30 on a Sunday night and wanted something pretty local. We drove past and noticed they served food until 9. I thought this was great (great parking facilities also) so we went in and sat down to look at the menu then went up to the bar to order, (I really liked the quirky decor in some areas of the pub) the man behind the bar seemed abrupt and not really interested in the customers, I may be wrong but that's how I felt, I felt uncomfortable and out of place perhaps it's a regular customers type of pub so outsiders aren't as welcome. Anyway we ordered and sat down, the food came pretty fast which is good and looked half decent...for 2 for £9.49 I didn't expect much so was surprised by the decent portion...the food was slightly above average pub food, I love my food piping hot and mine was jut warm so I started eating it pretty quick to make sure it didn't go cold quickly as it wasn't hot enough for me but not everyone likes their food extremely hot this is just a personal preference (probably because I eat slowly and talk a lot haha). The rest of the staff seemed lovely but the old guy just didn't give me friendly vibes, maybe he was having an off day I suppose. All in all for the price and the good parking facilities and the decor of the pub I would definitely be back for a quick cheap bite to eat at some point in the future. Went for a couple of pints and food this aft with the Mrs, my daughter and son in law. I happened to be wearing a West Brom shirt. Son in law a Grimsby shirt. I'm born and bred Chesterfield as is my daughter. Son in law Grimsby. The regulars looked at us as if we had got two heads! If I had been easily intimidated I'd have been intimidated lol! But this bunch looked about as handy as a no handed handy man! Food were ok as usual and we had a nice couple of hours in the sunshine. But please sort the locals out, I had a word with one of the "eye ballers" (without being intimidating ) and of course he had a mate who is a West Brom fan!...

After going to the pub tonight and going to the bar to order a pint I was told that they are not allowed to serve at the bar because of Covid rules ( totally agree )but she would come to me for my order. The bar lady asked where I would be sitting and I pointed and said outside. She replied by saying I will be out very soon. Whilst sat outside a gentleman asked if I’d been served to which I replied yes the lady behind the bar said she would be out very soon. After 20-30 mins and also standing at the door to show I was still outside I gave in and left. Really not happy and will probably...
