The Spread Eagle Public House — Restaurant in Chesterfield

A pleasant surprise in visiting the Spread Eagle as I recall it to have been an old drinkers pub back in the day. However it has been refurbished a hotel with bar and food and its lovely. Great food, rather limited menu and specials board but I struggle with too much choice so perfect for me. I visited with 4 others and we had a range of lasagne, fish and chips, burger or pie. Everyone enjoyed their food. The staff are friendly and efficient, the day we went a birthday party of about 10 was going on so they were a bit loud, not really complaining as its expected at a big gathering but we were put at the side of this table, we couldn't hear ourselves talk so requested to be moved, this was arranged so all happy. There is a spacious garden outside which will be lovely to have a drink in the summer. All round a very pleasant experience so...

Where should I start, well we paid £70.00 for an over night stay, room was good and clean, that's about it. One reason why I booked this hotel was it's location, and I love a good old English breakfast in the morning but, and this is a BIG BUT, I was told that there was no food on site, didn't state this when I booked it though a booking site. We went out for a meal and got back for a last drink in the bar at 10 pm, guess what, the bar was shut, no one around, and couldn't even get a bottle of water. Morning arrived, toilet paper running out, so I went down stairs to find help, guess what, no one around. If you have leprosy this is a perfect place to stay, as you will probably be the only guests there, as we were. I would love to here their response. No service and...

Went for a meal last night as recently reopened & had heard food was good. We booked but sadly it was nearly empty. Staff were welcoming & we sat where we fancied. Ordered bottle of pinot - very reasonable at £20! We both then ordered Steak Ciabattas! They were amazing - whole sirloin steak cooked to perfection, side salad & fries or triple cooked chips - £16 each! We were stuffed!

Staff were friendly & attentive throughout! Asked why they were so quiet on a Sat night - said they'd been busy previous night but things still getting established.

Will definitely be back & will be recommending to friends, family & obviously the whole of Google World!
