I walk past No10 when I work from my work office, usually this is before they're open, so often see chairs and tables been put out onto the front. I have many times thought of popping in and having a coffee and some food, on my way home, but had not gotten round to it yet, until today. Under the strangest of circumstances in fact! I was walking past, when my paper shopping bag ripped completely and fell to the floor, just outside the cafe. A gentleman appeared promptly from the door and offered to help by fetching me a bag. As I had my hands full, he very kindly took my shopping and swapped it to a new bag for me. He was ever so friendly and kind and due to his generosity, I thought why not pay the kindness forward by supporting a local small business and buying a cake. Well, once inside and seeing the lovely selection of cakes, I ended up purchasing three! They were very reasonably priced and absolutely delicious, I shared them with my family, although after having a piece of each, I almost ran off with all three, as they were super tasty! After chatting to the lovely gentleman, unfortunately I did not catch his name, we got chatting about some of the upcoming events and I cannot wait to book onto some of them, as they look very interesting and like a fun evening out. Thank you again for coming to my rescue and for making me believe that there are still lovely, kind people out there, that will spontaneously help you, out of the goodness of their hearts! I cannot wait to come back,...
Read more£1 for an extra plate? An absolute disgrace of an establishment. My elderly grandmother (who recently turned 90) and her friend who are regular customers visited for their normal order of a coffee each and a shared tea cake. The waitress brought the order with a single plate. They requested a second plate only to be told they would be charged £1 for the privilege. They thought this was a joke until reaching the till when we discovered the extra pound had indeed been added at the behest of the owner. The other staff were helpful and kind, I must stress that this surcharge was solely the decision of the manager. Asking two pensioners and regular customers to pay for a plate is reprehensible indeed. No morals and it's nothing but a shambles that the person "in charge" of things is allowed to do this, if you value your self-respect and don't like being ripped off - avoid...
Read moreWow what a disappointment after reading previous reviews I was expecting good things. 2 stars as my husbands choice turned out OK. Mine on the other hand was abysmal, £8.95 for the most sorry looking omelette I have ever had.The menu stated , Fluffy 3 egg omelette with filling options. I choose mushrooms and they were the only thing giving any depth to the dish. There definitely was no 3 egg fluff it was so thin and contained no substance at all. Half of a tomato sat forlornly on the plate. The first time ever, we got food before our drink which arrived later, there was an apology due to lack of staff. No enquiring when paying, if we had enjoyed our meal, perhaps due to staff...
