Cherry's Deli & Bakery — Restaurant in Chichester

I decided to visit Petworth for afternoon tea yesterday with my elderly aunt who was over from the US on a family visit. We had tried to get a seat in a more traditional tear room to no available, and so thought we would try Cherries. We found a table but it had not been cleared. It seemed other people who arrived before us had piled up their uncleared crockery onto the last empty table left! After a 10 minute wait the table was cleared. We were told we needed to place our order at the deli counter in the next room. After another 20 minute wait (due to just one person serving) we were told that coffee and a cake would take around 45 minutes to serve. By this time it was 3.00pm and my aunt was really hungry so we decided to leave and make a cup of tea at home. I don't know how a business can survive with just 2 members of staff on a Saturday. The tables weren't being cleared, they had one girl taking orders, processing payment and making all the food whilst the other was...

Very dissapointing. Being a vegetarian it can sometimes leave you with little to choose from so i was pleased to see the quiche had an option to come with a salad and chips for £8.50 to eat in which I ordered. I could have chosen take away £3.50. but you only get quiche and honestly I would rather have had the take away. The salad was some old and sour lettuce leaves only which was desguised in some balsamic vinegar. Not a salad at all no tomatoe or cumcumber it would not even have passed as garnish and i couldnt even eat it it was disgusting, with that I got a handful of Doritos. We meet up with my Cousin and her Husband from Farnham every 3 months. Petworth is midway between Farnham and our home in Lancing. This was the first time we had met up in 6 months so it was great. We have had lunch in several places in Petworth and we tried Cherry's Deli for the first time. The iced drinks were delicious lol idiots and sicwere the quiches anddalad. The menfolk also enjoyed cake! We did not know the system of finding a table and then going to the counter to order but we were made to feel very welcome and queued in order to order.
