The service is wonderful - we could not fault the front of house team.
The food was terrible - bread served with poor quality olive oil and vinegar… the bread was sliced and not fresh (certainly not ‘artisan’). Starters - prawn cocktail was the out right winner… my smoked salmon was served with 2 small thinnest slices of soda bread I have ever had… butter came in a packet and only after we asked for it. The mains were awful… we sent the soufflé back as it was like an omelette. Only to be told that the chef’s response was “it comes like that”.
We used to dine at the sister restaurants in Christchurch which are infinitely better. This is a very poor relation and we would not go again.

Read moreNice looking city hotel, 4 star. Wife and I went for pre theatre limited menu at £18.85 each. Service good. Nice looking restaurant. Why 2 star only? At every stage it was "short". Glass of ordinary Merlot at £7.15? A bit of a pretentious price. Goat cheese starter rich on beetroot, but the goats were AWOL. Nice mackerel page on toast, such a small price of toast, how much did they save in that. Mains fish quite nice, but missed any sparkel. Just adding a bit more of the leek bed would've helped. Erin Mess with spray in foam cream, eh? Our son is a chef in a prestigious London restaurant, so we know a little of the problems. Staff work hard, but hotel policy in this area gets a two star from me. I'm sure they could do better without...
Read moreWe have stayed many times however this time we had dinner at the hotel. Food was lovely however the lobster extremely small for the price and only comes with a side salad. Husband enjoyed his steak. Drink choice has changed since we last visited which is great as much more choice on cocktails now! Staff are always friendly, attentive and professional and food was served promptly however not rushed. The only down side is that there is no atmosphere. Only another two couples in the restaurant and was very quiet. The harbour hotel is definitely our top place to stay in Chichester however not sure if we would return for...
