The Novium is a wonderful local resource; interesting and informative displays which kept me, my husband and our children equally engaged. We were particularly excited to see artefacts originally found in our very own road. Entrance to the museum is free, you enter straight into the Roman baths chamber which is huge and gives you an idea of the scale of the original site. We learned that only a small fraction has been unearthed. There are also interactive activities for younger visitors. We paid to see the Brick Wonders exhibition which is a collection of famous monuments/landmarks from around the world made from lego bricks. This was a highlight for our children. Entrance for a family of up to 5 was £12 which we thought was very reasonable. A lot of love and care has been put into it, again there were lots of lovely things to see and interactive activities for the kids. If you do visit, check their website as I know their exhibitions change periodically. My own personal highlight was seeing the North Bersted man exhibition - this is the area we live in and seeing the findings in person was brilliant. Definitely...
Read moreWhat a wonderful place. We went to see a temporary exhibit (small cost) and the rest of the museum is free. I was stunned when i walked in and saw an entired floor of roman remains (bath house) ...pieces of a mosaic on the wall and many, many amazing pieces. Highly recommend heading over, the ground floor is great for seeing the roman past, 1st floor is good local hostory (very interesting- but warning it does contain human remains- bones) and a small exhibit room at the back which is currently about pride 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ in Chichester with personal stories and history/information. The top floor is currently devoted to the temporary exhibit 'i grew up in the 80's' -(on until 8/6/25) i highly recommend this for all ages whilst it is there and i really hope the museum will do a Ninties one soon as it was amazing!! From July 2025 they will have an exhibit on local company Shippam's (which some may know as Princes- think canned tuna and fish paste!) and how they were an integral part of...
Read moreThey refused cash which is legal tender, unless you have correct change. No obvious signs saying card /correct change only. This was at the end of the museum or at the enterence/exit and this upset my 6 year old who was trying to spend his pocket money. The lady who was checking booking details on entry stated that the lady at the till should accept money and they had plenty of change!! This was a disappointing end to a wonderful experience. Plenty to see. Alot of steps to walk down, which are steep. However, does have a lift. On the 1st floor, had a lovely area for children to read books and free activities for them to do.The hunt for the pigs was a great activity for my son to do, however was not given the pencil and picked up the activity sheet on level 2.Things in the shop range from £2 upwards. Most of the staff lovely. Social distancing was in place, however children were running around. Face masks worn inside. Toilets are available. Free admission which...
