It boasts of being independent and open for 20 years . I find that Astonishing. I knew what I wanted to order and went to the counter. No other customers were at the counter yet none of the 3 staff even acknowledged me . Yes they were doing things but most places will say "hello" or āI will be with you in a minuteā. After a few minutes I said āhi. Is this where I orderā and got the reply āyeahā but still nothing. When I eventually placed my order with the man making the coffees and doing the till he just looked at me without a word. . No please. No thank you. No āwe will bring it to your tableā . Absolutely nothing . How very rude. When the food came (again wordless service from a sullen lady) the smashed avocado was only processed guacamole and had been heated. It tasted awful. The egg was broken annd greasy. and the bacon pre cooked and tough. Oh and the ānapkinā was a v small sheet of kitchen towel . Other customers were not that happy either if the food left on the plates is anything to go by. It must be one off visitors who keep this place going. No one on their right mind would pay a repeat visit with such poor food and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first visit I was barked at by a surly gentleman simply for trying to order something to eat-in, that was only apparently available on the take-out menu. Quite why only certain sandwiches are suitable for plating up with crisps & salad whilst others aren't is beyond me, but hey ho.
My second visit I DID want a take-out so was allowed to order the sandwich i wanted...only to soon wish I hadn't bothered. A ham and egg sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap ham with egg mayonnaise (I didn't ask for egg mayo, didn't request egg mayo, the menu didn't say egg mayo) which was a messy tasteless gunk made with the cheapest mayonnaise. All slapped onto a stale, hard bread roll. No offer of any sauces or seasoning and certainly no service with a smile. Even pressing a button on the till to generate a receipt seemed an inconvenience.
Not local but will be working in Chichester 1-2 weeks per month for the foreseeable and will be buying lunch every single day...just not from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn the outside a quaint looking cafe, sadly though, very disappointing with a lack of accessibility for people with wheelchairs. There was no greeting nor welcoming smile. No ramp available and no offer of help to gain access to the shop. Very cramped and the two menus, one for eating in and one for Take Away were not very clear. Breakfast was ordered and when served, both bacon and toast were burnt. No apology was offered and when replacements were requested, just a curt response from the person behind the till was offered. From her āobvious put on upper class voiceā I assumed she was the manager but as no apology was forthcoming, maybe she was just a waitress? This is not the kind of service that I have come to expect from a little independent coffee shop especially one based in Chichester. I will definitely not be returning or recommending to others. Sadly Iām unable to score 0 or...
