I can't fault the food here. Starters were excellent, but the mains were even better. The lamb shank was incredible, and the best I've had. And the iskender was top notch. The service upon entry started off well, up to the point the waitress who initially served us was there. I assume her shift finished, and then things went a bit downhill. Mains took over 45 minutes to come after starters had been cleared away. But it was the attitude of two servers at the end that has resulted in 3 stars. I asked if baklava could be served with ice cream and was told a blunt no because the prices were different for ice cream. I'd have happily paid extra, but the guy seemed almost inconvenienced by having to take a dessert order. The attentiveness of the waiters as the evening went on seemed to fade away as well, with wrong dishes being taken to tables, waiting a while for the bill, etc. As I said, can't fault the food, and the young lady, who's name I didn't get, but was European, blonde, in her 20s I'd say, who served us at the start was brilliant. 5* for food 3* for service

Like a prophet, my father asked during our visit to Durham "what are those red letters across the river?" as we had a coffee. His eyes didn't dart off of it as we crossed the Wear in the rain; his mind didn't wander as we spent 4 hours in the morning around Durham's centre. Turned out to be the family's favourite meal during their 1 week visit to the North East. By FAR. They even raved about the great turkish wine (Ephesus, Red). It's a very Slug & Lettuce / late 20s English Couple soft velvet new-build core vibe, but it actually works! The lunch menu is really, really worth it. The casserole revealed to me the secret to happiness. The (unpictured) Akarsu Special Kofte was the best part for the others (50-80 years old).

Great location, we had a table with views over the river, which was nice. Menu is extensive, and the food is delicious. Service is great, albeit we had an extended wait for our table despite booking. However, this wasn't a major issue for us, and we were still served with drinks whilst we waited. If I'm hyper-critical, we had to return one drink when they tried to pass one wine off for another, which was clearly different...the barman was very apologetic for not mentioning it. Overall, I'd recommend the place, food is delicious, not too badly priced and the service is excellent.

A really nicely set up restaurant that had an authentic Turkish feel and nice lighting as well as a very unique stairwell down to a second seating area. The service was great and the menu was extensive enough to suit most tastes. We opted to have a Tapas style dish of prawns along with the house mixed grill. Along with a drink each it came to just over 40 pounds. The lamb chop was extremely tender and flavourful as was the mixed meat skewer and the kofta style lamb kebab. Altogether a very tasty and satisfying meal for 2. Top service also.

They had the best lamb shanks I ever tried! Extremely flavourful and cooked to perfection. I could have easily ate several portions myself. That's how good it was. Will come back to try some of their other options as everything else looked really nice as well. The staff was helpful, and the place itself was very spacious and nice, with the only downside being that there are limited toilets and it always had a queue. The wait time for the food could also be improved but otherwise would highly recommend it!

Utterly fantastic. Dined here yesterday evening with my girlfriend. Went for the hot meze starter and ‘mixed meat sharer’ type dish for our main. The food was unbelievable. I love Turkish food and often seek it out when in a new city but this was the best I’ve had. Huge portion of perfectly spiced and expertly cooked food. Great Turkish house red to wash it down too. Friendly, attentive staff. Terrific value too. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.
