Check your money before and after. They tried to clumsily offload an old pound coin onto my partner today, accusing her of trying to pay with it.
I don’t mind being banned after I confronted them and told them it is a dirty trick to play to take cash and put it in the till then pull out the unusable coin and say ‘I can’t take this’, especially since my partner has an anxiety disorder and came back panicked and extremely upset by the lady behind the till accusing her of this. She stood her ground and refused to accept it was her coin, so I’m proud of her for this. When it didn’t work the lady grumpily said ‘Fine, give it back then’.
I gave them my thoughts on this and they were not pleasant at all about it, there’s better ways to deal with this stuff... but not doing it in the first place is step 1. It’s a shame cos I liked the bacon rolls, and they were otherwise relatively pleasant. This issue was not worth them banning me and my friends, their loss is more than the pound was worth. If they’re so desperate for cash as to pull this dirty trick on someone with an anxiety disorder then they must need that £1 more than me.
But here’s the thing, it could be them saying it was a tenner you handed them not a twenty next time. Much...
Read moreI went on vacation to Europe last year and, when I was in Italy, I got an ugly infection. My next destination was Scotland, where I wanted to get to know the Highlands (I had already paid the car rental and everything). However, because of the illness I was forced to stay in Edinburgh to be covered by my health insurance. The experience just wasn't any worse, because where I stayed in Edinburgh it was next to this restaurant that serves the best mushroom soup I've ever eaten, for the very nice price of £ 2 and that was the only thing my stomach accepted. I kindly ask the owners - especially the kind lady - to give me the recipe if...

As I had no answer I wasnt sure anyone heard so I wsoted a few minutes and politely asked the woman if anyone had heard. "I am busy!" was all she said, in an utterly impertinent manner. I pointed out that I wasnt being difficult - I was just not sure anyone heard it!
