Would not recommend. First of all, they didn't have cocktails or Bacardi! Not sure what pub could say that? Then they did not get my food order right. I ordered 2 kids meals and one adult meal but I didn't realise they had only charged me and put on the system one kids meal. As I say I didn't realise until one son and I were served and the other was left waiting for 20 minutes on his food. I had not received a receipt. The waitress told me I had to pay ÂŁ6.50 for the 2nd kids meal. I didn't really agree with this as it was their mistake but I paid it to the manager. After the meal I ordered their brownies for dessert which was included in the kids meal. The waitress said we would have to take them to go as due to the delay with the 2nd kids meal, we were past the 8pm kids curfew. Again we were happy to do this. However as we were leaving, the waitress stopped us and said we needed to pay for the brownies. I explained that I had paid for them and she called the manager back to check. She didn't realise that they were included in the kids meal. I wouldnt ever make a fuss but I was very annoyed as we had paid in full and any mistake was on their part. After a conversation, the manager basically threw the ÂŁ6.50 back at me and I took it. Again, I would never do this but it was a matter of principle. I was made to feel like a criminal trying to leave without paying when I had paid in full for everything and any mistake was theirs. A final complaint was about the 10% service charge automatically added to the bill. I would not have paid this if I had had the choice. We have been in Edinburgh for a few days and this is the most disappointing meal we have had - the food was OK but the service leaves a lot to be desired. Lesson 101 - the customer is...

The menu made it look quite appetising. That was the most creative thing inside the place. The rest was dreadful.

Full Irish breakfast? Not quite: the pork and herb sausages were devoid of any traces of herb, and even the pork's presence was debatable, the white pudding was a wet mess of mush and hopelessness, the bacon and tomatoes both invisible (i.e. not served at all) and the flat mushroom was transmogrified into small button chunks. No wonder they whipped the menus away from us to reduce the threat of comparing what was on the plate with what was on the menu.

The 'soda farl' was even more imaginative. The sausages were (again) devoid of anything on the menu other than 'likely pork product' and rusk, and the farl was doing an impression of what we usually refer to as 'a brioche'. The egg was certainly scrambled. Or at least that's how they claimed to have destroyed it. See the photograph for a hideous view.

Twenty quid for this misery. Coffees were fine, but that came quickly and half an hour ensued before anything else arrived. No one came to ask if everything was OK, no one offered anything else and we left feeling as though we had inconvenienced them.

Yes, they looked rushed as they have to serve the hordes from the adjoining hotel, but the service and food were an abomination. I can only conclude that the chef was off sick and that his or her duties were being discharged by a chimp on its first day of paid employment. I've had better food prepared by children.

Avoid,...

It was difficult to find a place to have a cooked breakfast on Sunday morning. We checked few places, some were not open even Google maps and Trip advisor were showing those were opened. Run away from some smoky and grim places. After a while we decided that we are too hungry to wander around and we choose Biddy as we were passing by and saw they are serving cooked breafast. Big mistake. The place looked tired and cleaning was not good at all. I will just mention rusty can with a cutlery and napkins. Staff didn't ask if I have any food preferences or if I am allergic to something. I ordered full Scottish breakfast without black pudding (do not eat it). Plate came with black pudding on it. Fried egg was cold, looks like it was pre cooked and kept ambient. Bacon looked pre cooked and reheated for too long as it was too dry. Late coffe...don't even know how to describe that. Nobody checked our table but 10% service charge was included, cannot understand for what. Unfortunately this pandemic situation affected hospitality a lot. Looks like there is no competition anymore but businesses try to survive cutting costs. However, there must be a limit for or that and basic minimum met, clean place, hot and fresh prepared food with a staff who...

Authentic musicianship in a teeny EDINBURGH pub? You must mean The Wee Pub next door to Biddy Mulligans in the Grassmarket. A small venue with a big heart. Sundays 4-6.30pm and Tuesdays 7.30-10pm are open mic nights. The evenings are hosted by Rob (through their Facebook page ‘The Wee Pub Open Mic Night), who is great at responding on FB and who, on the night, is so welcoming to seasoned and new artists, and to the audience. If last night is a standard evening we had instrumentalists, jazz/Harry Connick Jnr style singer and cool guitar player, The Jam style; folk and yours truly doing acoustic pop. The age range was diverse which is brilliant, and the level of playing and singing was top notch. The place is cosy and that’s what makes it. You feel like you’re in a wee community, a community of music lovers who talk to each other. Musicians are given a token for a free drink (Guinness, Tenants, and an IPA).
