I had a strange experience at the last drop. Normally people are nice in there. I come here whenever I have guests and buy something there, click pictures outside there entrance near the story board they've put up at the entrance. Last saturday tables were folded up and kept in a row outside the entrance and my cousin may have tripped or not-I don't know but the tables fell. Myself and my cousin tried to pick it up and keep them back the best we could but the employee harassed us and demanded that we keep it exactly as it was. I tried to explain that I did the best I could but he was not having it. Very rude and entitled young man who expects the customers to obey his command. He was agressive too. The furniture should have been secured and out of the way. I recommend the management to give some behavioural training to this young man and solve any issues the employee is having resulting in such behaviour.

A pub in Edinburgh called “The Last Drop” is a must-visit place. It is a place with a rich history, where people used to be hanged on the gallows. But don't worry, nowadays it's a place where you can enjoy a drink and a snack. The pub is super atmospheric and beautifully decorated, and clearly shows the historical significance of the place. It is a place where you can immerse yourself in Scottish culture. I heard they have a delicious veggie burger made from cauliflower and kale. If you are a meat eater, you should definitely try this burger. It's so tasty that you won't even miss the meat. And if you like gin, they have an exciting selection of premium gins to choose from. So if you are in Edinburgh, go to “The Last Drop” and enjoy the atmosphere and history of this unique pub. It is a place where you will definitely have a good time. 🍻

We ended up here one night as my son picked the location this time. He just wanted something to drink and a quick meal. Like most pubs, order at the bar and pay at the same time. They even did a solid for allowing us a second Sticky Finger even though the kitchen was closed. Very friendly staff and enjoyed reading the wall stories. We had a couple drinks each (Stewart’s 80 [cask] and Henry Weston Cider). For snacks, I just got Loaded Chunky Chips. He got Sticky Chicken [got this twice as it stayed a while] and Classic Cheese & Bacon Burger. Everything was delicious and filling. Was a nice way to end the day / night. Just be aware they have hangman nooses for decorations as it is part of the atmosphere. I know this maybe a trigger for some people, but remember this is Scotland 🏴 and this reflects the history of this location.

Popped in here for a solo dinner on a Friday night before other plans. The place was busy and lively, and I wasn't sure I'd get a seat, but after 10 minutes of waiting at the bar with a drink, I was ushered to a table. Service was great, everyone friendly and quick. I enjoyed the smoked salmon and oatcakes, Balmoral chicken, and cranachan. The Balmoral chicken was delicious and I absolutely recommend it. The atmosphere in the pub is cheerful and lively, with nods to its slightly macabre name on the walls. I popped in for a late drink with friends later and enjoyed the same atmosphere. Menu is varied with lots of choice. Drink menu also has plenty of choice, including a long list of categorised whiskies to peruse. I heartily recommend a visit here.

Traditional food, good and quite fast service. The cullen skink was surprisingly good, the haggis was also really nice as well as the fishcakes and the ribeye steak. The cranachan dessert was weird and not sure if it was done properly because it was the first time I had it, it was just a full glass of cream topped with very sour sauce. The service was decent but a man wanted to turn us down at the entrance saying they don’t have any table. Lucky we insisted because they actually did. No booking required also but it seems like all the other Nickolsons pubs want a booking and we were sent away by 2 of them before we found the last drop.

Continuing ticking the Scottish food list, we headed to The Last Drop for Smoked Salmon and Oatcakes, and Cranachan. It's a small and busy touristy pub. We ordered at the bar and the food came swiftly. Smoked Salmon and Oatcakes were ok. The Cranachan was something we weren't sure about. It was simply spoonfuls and mouthfuls of pure whipped cream. Not much flavour or texture to it; not from the raspberry, the honey, the toasted oat, or the dash of whisky. It left us having this greasy aftertaste. After all, the pub has its own charm and atmosphere. Good place to have a pint or two and some food, but not the dessert!
