I am very disappointed with my recent visit to Costa Coffee. The service I received from a staff member named JT was completely unacceptable and far below the standard I would expect from such a well-known brand.
When I politely asked her to add sugar to my coffee, she outright refused. It wasn’t a complicated request, nor was it unreasonable, but her dismissive attitude and lack of willingness to provide basic customer assistance left me shocked. Instead of trying to make the experience pleasant, she was unhelpful, unprofessional, and displayed very poor customer service skills.
As a paying customer, I believe it’s the responsibility of the staff to ensure we are treated with respect and courtesy. Unfortunately, JT’s attitude reflected none of this. It felt as though my request was an inconvenience rather than something she could have easily assisted with.
Costa Coffee should seriously look into improving their staff training because interactions like this damage customer trust and loyalty. I came in for a simple coffee, but left feeling disrespected and frustrated.

The staff are all different nationalities which I find fascinating . I’ve seen people collapsing in toilets people being treated outside from falling ,young parents needing help with push chairs ,disabled adults being giving the correct assistance,. If it’s regulars having a chat to staff .they are never too busy to help lend a hand . From the young staff members to the senior staff members I’ve never yet to see negative attitude towards customers. Unfortunately some costa in Edinburgh could learn a thing or two from these staff members . Me, as a tourist in the city, no car, see the sign and go walking around and try to order a coffee (it is important to mention that there were no lines, other person, other cars and so on and so forth, just myself and the window to place orders). So I was told that they could not sell me a tiny cup of coffee, a expresso that would take 30 seconds to be made, through that window.
Than they said that with cost app, I could, from that same spot I was, order the coffee. However, as I have said, I am an international tourist, when trying to download the app from playstore I got the message "this app is not available in your country".
