You should definitely try these pizzas! Absolutely amazing, from the first day they are open I’ve been trying pizzas from their menu every night. These guys even have a promotion for all pizzas for a fiver! What a deal, thank me later! So let’s start with the atmosphere, it was nice a chill, the first time e came in I had no idea what I was looking for, the guy on the counter was really nice, no pressure like the most of the shops when you can’t decide what you want, it took me like almost 10 minutes to decide cuz all of the pizza sounds soooo delicious, I wanted them all. I went for number 9 ( Lamb and Haggis) , I’m usually go for vegetarian one but the guy told me that the lamb ( like almost everything in the menu) is homemade in the exact pizza oven! Can you imagine the taste? What efforts, I was impressed so I had to try it and believe me I did not regret! It was everything you are looking for in a pizza , flavorful and unique toppings, airy and nice crust and pleasant service! I’ll be back again for sure. Can’t wait to try all of them, what...

Avoid! Let me explain...

Nice Service and shop. Interesting menu executed properly with good presentation. You can see some thought has been put into this place. I particularly enjoyed reading the numbered pizza menu. Easy to order and well priced.

However their is a BIG PROBLEM with the dough used. And i will not order pizza from this place again until the issue is fixed. If you do not want to chew on dough all night, end up with a tired jaw and feeling full of dough AVOID!

You will really, really enjoy the first few chews of each slice then your left to battle on rich dense dough that will not dissolve. The dough is super durable and your likely to pull a tooth out chewing away trying to dissolve the dough in your mouth.

Super annoying as everything else is perfectly in place for this spot to be a HUGE hit. Unfortunately the dough used is going to see this place dissolved or go stagnant.

If only the dough would be better then easily I would say the best pizza shop...

As an Italian, Matto Pizza has been my go-to spot for years whenever I need to satisfy that pizza craving that sometimes itches like crazy! 🤌🏻🍕

Their Margherita is my personal favourite—a true test of quality pizza, and they absolutely nail it.

The pizza dough is incredible, and the base is authentically Neapolitan, which is just how it should be.

Every now and then, I treat myself to something different, and I’ve never been disappointed. Just pick any pizza from the menu, and you’re in for a treat.

The Pizzeria in Abbeyhill is more of a takeaway with a small, cosy seating area. The atmosphere is perfect for those who enjoy an uncomplicated experience—order, eat, have a good chat, and go. It’s simple and perfect for a quick bite.

Other Matto locations are a bit larger and offer that classic old-school restaurant/pizzeria vibe.

The best pizza in Edinburgh ? I no longer go anywhere else. The team are always friendly, helpful and prompt. The restaurant is small and no fuss, more suited to takeaway or a cosy date for two (only a handful of tables). That's because the real star of the show is the food. The pizzas here are mind-blowingly delicious, with go to traditional toppings as well as creative combinations. They list allergies (including soy, mollusc, nuts etc) which is a major bonus for me. Their olive tapenade base with leeks was bought on a whim (I almost changed to a traditional tomato and cheese base) and it is one of the most delicious things I've ever tasted. You can tell the ingredients are authentic and fresh and that the team put a lot of thought into their craft. Keep doing what you're doing Matto, I'll be back for more!
