I've been on a quest over the last years to find the best breakfast in Edinburgh. This is definitely a contender.

I am a fussy eater and didn't want eggs or mushrooms, so you can see my breakfast was fairly simple. But all the ingredients were great. Fresh bread, high quality haggis with the sausages and bacon cooked to perfection.

The big revelation for me here is how fantastically well garlic butter goes with breakfast food. Would never have thought of it myself. Wish more places done that.

Overall the atmosphere was good, service was great, very friendly.

The breakfast is maybe a bit pricey for the amount of food on my plate, but this is Edinburgh, so didn't really cost more than anywhere else locally. Would have been nice to have some potato scone / hash brown, some beans are always a welcome addition.

But overall,...

Food - Quiche, Salmon toastie + soup of the day Drink - 2 Cappuccinos

We went in around 1.15pm today (busy lunch period) and was greeted by a friendly member of staff who asked if we were sitting in to eat. We were told to take a seat at any table. We were then left to our own devices for at least 10 minutes before being asked what we would like to drink. Another 10 minutes passed before the drinks arrived and we also had to ask for some menus to be brought over so we could order some food. Our order was eventually taken which took around 20 minutes to arrive. I felt the length of time taken to bring such an order was a bit longer than it should have been given what it was and there were no reassurances or apologies from the staff regarding our meal.

Some positives would be that the food and drinks...

A neat little cafe close enough to home that I don't feel the need to head into central to get a nice coffee. Coffee here is good and they offer a range of teas as well. Service is always friendly and they seem to always remember a familiar face. Decor is simple and colourful and has wooden floors that add to the charm. I love that it's spacious and whilst pretty new its generally busy and already has its loyal customers. Although the first I went and ordered a flat white which took 2 attempts for her to get right, it was still a lovely flat white and I didn't mind her re trying to get it right for me on her own accord. Food is lovely and they offer a good breakfast there too. Love this little place and look forward to seeing their progress...

I was sitting here with a cup of burnt coffee and the waiter comes along to tell me I can't work on my laptop in this cafe and asks me to leave. What he means is ''I can not sit around for hours because they want my table free asap so they can make profit from rotating guests". I came to this cafe only because the reviews said that this is a work- and laptop-friendly cafe. For everyone else wishing to come here to work, let me tell you they will ask you to leave in a rude and forceful manner. Save yourself time and stress and choose any other cafe, that provides customer-focused service. This cafe is only after profit. Will not be coming here again. Visited 26/06/2022 at 14:00
