Has all the vibes you'd expect of a pub where students go to get sloshed. The music is overwhelming and the prices (save for the Christmas cocktail specials) were exorbitant for what was on offer. Staff seemed rushed, but they were very nice and attentive. Impossible to have a conversation with your companion, though, because of the noise. Foodwise, Indigo Yard is uniquely bad. Very basic menu, though with a good selection of starters and burgers (you wanna get here before 5 to get the two-for-one mains offer so you can get your burger on, if that's your thing). We had the steak and ale pie with cream cheese mash, the bread plate, and the halloumi avocado wrap with chips. Nothing was tasty. The bread was mediocre, seemed like it'd been tossed on the grill for 30 seconds, and the oil and balsamic dressing they gave us to dip the bread in tasted cheap, lacked any sort of seasoning (no salt or pepper), and is in a little copper dish buried under the bread. The cream cheese mash was decent, but the pie was dreadful. The mishmash of meats wasn't filling, the carrots were hard and undercooked, the puff pastry was dry and inedible, and the predominant flavor of the stew was water and tomato puree. The greens we got were incredibly wilted, way too sad to even be considered garnish. The ketchup they provide is 90% vinegar. The halloumi avocado wrap is an eclectic mix of shelf-stable ingredients that sadly do not complement each other, and the wrap itself falls apart as soon as you bite into it. The fries are fine if you like those freezer-section pop-em-in-the-microwave fries they sell in grocery stores. Hollow husks of potato, bland-tasting, hardly oily, only a step above crisps. It's a disappointing meal if you make it at home or get it in a grocery store, but it's truly unjustifiable to charge £15 for each of these meals and £5 for the bread. They didn't even have rhubarb soda in stock :(

Ok - so the one star is for attention purposes I’m afraid. I usually love I.Y (it’s a go to usually for drinks and food!) and usually no complaints however today I ordered the GF cheese burger - what I got was the burger (and poorly put together) simply slapped in between two dry slices of bread. This is incredibly lazy and poor quality in comparison to other places that offer GF burgers. It isn’t hard surely to have some form of actual GF burger buns!! I have them at home all the time. I should have said something but our server was so lovely - I just didn’t appreciate still being charged the full price for something that was somewhat ridiculous. While it’s great that I.Y have a dedicated allergens menu - PLEASE do better than this. Just because someone is GF doesn’t mean they have to receive less than. Moaning aside the service was excellent - we were seated upstairs and the atmosphere was great as always.

We had Another visit to Indigo Yard to take up their 50% off all food for January offer. We started with Roast Pepper & Tomato soup along with Focaccia bread. This was followed by Sirloin Steaks with all the trimmings and then Chocolate Torte and ice cream. The soup & focaccia were great, very tasty and roasting hot which is what we like. The steaks etc all good too although the peppercorn sauce could be a bit thicker and have more pepper corns in it. The torte, tasty as usual ! Only complaint would be the time it took to be served. There was only one poor waitress serving all the tables and we waited at least 15 minutes just to be asked if we wanted a drink. It’s good food and a nice place, you just need to be patient.

Went here for lunch recently with friends and really liked the atmosphere and decor. We were sat in a comfortable booth and mostly chose things from the offer on the menu (I think it might have been 2 mains for £10). Nik and I shared a starter as I was intrigued to try the wild mushrooms on sun-dried tomato toast. This was very nice but I was a bit disappointed as the toast we received was actually just rustic wholemeal (although still tasty). We both had the burger as our main course and they were delicious! Well cooked, nicely seasoned and juicy but with crispy edges. I also liked the accompaniments and drinks we chose. I had a blueberry smoothie and fizzy water. I loved the glasses they were served in too!

Dessert was a bit more of a let down. We all ordered hot chocolates as they sounded amazing (made with melted chocolate, not powder) and we all chose the double chocolate one rather than the more unusual rose & black pepper or lemongrass & white chocolate. We also paid the extra for macarons on the side (even me as I wanted to take them home) and I ordered the mulled cherry rice pudding as it sounded too good to miss!

My rice pud came first, served in a kilner jar it was nice and hot and very tasty. The cherries were lovely with a hint of spices and just enough tartness against the sweet, creamy rice pud. Unfortunately our hot chocolates took ages to arrive and some of them were barely warm when they did come. I'd already finished my pudding and our macarons were served first so we had waited patiently only to be disappointed. The other weird thing was that we all agreed they tasted spicy - like chilli chocolate. When I questioned our waitress about this she asked the guy who'd made them and we saw his incredulous reaction as he exclaimed "Chilli?!?" Apparently, they were just plain chocolate but since all four of us tasted a kick, we have no idea where that came from. I'm glad it wasn't just me going mad!

Our first server was much more efficient and capable than our second. The macaron flavours we all chose were quite mixed up and some had to be changed as she'd forgotten what we asked for. She seemed a bit confused at times and we were worried about asking about the hot chocolates. I sent mine back as I wasn't enjoying it, even if I was given another hot one I wouldn't have liked it. Given the time we'd spent waiting, I didn't want to order another hot drink as everyone would be waiting and as I said, I'd already finished my pudding. She was quite insistent that she could bring me another but eventually accepted that I really didn't want one. My hot chocolate was taken off the bill and I was allowed to keep my macarons so that did make up for some of the disappointment.

Overall, it was good value for money. Lara's starters (she had 2 starters instead of a main) were particularly good value as the portions were huge and looked delicious! I would go back again as the issues I've mentioned above were only minor and we did...

We arrived for our booking into a very busy place. We were shown to our table in the outside area which was covered with canopies, however did not totally prevent us getting wet! It was mortal chaos and after 15 minutes one of our group went inside to enquire about service to be told they are on way. The waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and grabbed a menu from adjacent table to assist us choose. When drinks came out we got asked for our food order, no one had given us menus, thankfully we had seen online! The starters came out without any cutlery, however this was remedied by waitress. When the mains came out, again without cutlery we waited a good few minutes so one of us went inside to ask, after a few more minutes the waitress delivered, meanwhile our food was getting cold! We asked for more drinks and waitress disappeared, we managed to ask other waitress as she passed. After eating we waited and waited to ask for bill (no offers of desserts). After about 15 minutes (we could have left without being noticed) one of us went inside to ask for bill. They had cheek to add 20% service charge!!! After debate they removed that, the waitress then came to table for payment. As said earlier the place was chaos due to amount of people, about 10 people standing around table for 4 next to us while we’re trying to eat, people vaping and smoking next to us while eating. No particular blame to the waiting staff, they were trying in an impossible situation, there was far too many people, a...
