Our apartment, No 7 in the Malt House, left us somewhat disappointed. The photos illustrating the apartment made it look bright, which was not the case. What you do not see is the heavy net curtain on the french doors to stop neighbouring apartments looking in nor the need to keep the blinds down on the other windows as they are directly facing the windows just across a very narrow street. This makes the apartment very dark unless you want to be looked at by the people in the kitchen opposite. To compensate you need all the lights on and these are significantly underpowered.|We booked the apartment having found it on booking.com, which clearly shows that the bed is an extra large king sized bed, (normally 180 or even 200cm x 200cm), in fact the bed is a UK king size bed (160cm x 200cm). This is an important consideration for us when making a booking.|Most importantly, and despite all the commentary in the apartment manual, the apartment was not very clean. We found the bedside tables to be covered in dust, stains on the floor, indicating that it hadn't been recently mopped and mould on the grouting in the shower. Both the sink and shower had slow drainage, hairs in the shower plug hole being a contributing factor.|There were also issues with the safety of two of the plug sockets.|We did report much of the above to the customer services at the end of our stay so that they could rectify it for the next clients, we appreciate that had we told them at the beginning of our stay they could have rectified some of the issues but we did not want the inconvenience of being disturbed during our short stay.|There were positives, the apartment is well equipped, the shower is powerful (unlike in many of the places we stayed in on our tour of Scotland), Wi-fi worked well. The apartment is really well placed in the west end, minutes from the centre and transport hubs. Plenty of local...
Read moreWe stayed in apartment 7 for 5 days and we really enjoyed it. The location is excellent - a 5 minute walk to the tram stop, and not too far a walk from the castle etc. Although parking was recommended, we used the JustPark app to pay privately to ensure we were parked away from the Low Emissions Zone. This worked fine for us as we didn’t really use the car. The apartment was a great size for the two of us, and very cosy and comfy. Although the bed was softer than we were used to, the quilt was wonderful! Very snug! There was slow drainage in the bathroom, but this caused us no issues. Just a bit of alarm on the first day when we expected a blockage (all was fine!) Another review was accurate in that the windows face other buildings, but this didn’t bother us. There’s no lift, but not too many stairs to climb (and my case was very heavy!) The fact that you didn’t need a key was just brilliant, and the entire complex felt very secure which was reassuring. The apartment had all the necessary amenities. We only had two issues during our stay - 1) a few times the tv lost signal, but Netflix worked fine so we were happy. Just something for the owners to monitor. 2) For two nights the people upstairs were very loud, in that they sounded like they were dragging furniture around during the late hours. We were tired enough that we slept through this, but it was a bit annoying at first. Despite any negatives mentioned however, the positives outweighed them drastically and we would definitely stay again in the future and recommend to others. If potential upstairs noise is a concern, then maybe request the top floor. But again, this didn’t...
Read moreMyself and my partner stayed here for 2 nights. The apartment was lovely, very clean and had everything you could possibly need, we were so impressed! The location is great too, just off Princes street so very accessible and within walking distance of everything you would want to visit on a trip to Edinburgh! The apartment even had Spotify, Netflix, BT sports etc on the tv, and a washing machine! The price is brilliant especially considering what you get for it. The staff in the offices were also lovely, allowing us to leave our luggage there on our first day so that we could explore as check in was not until 3pm. The only thing that put a bit of a dampener on our stay and hence the loss of a star was the attitude of one of the employees, the housekeeper. We got held up on our way back to the apartment to check out on our last day due to the rain so traffic was bad. Check out states that you should be out of your apartment for 11. We arrived back to the apartment to collect our things (we had them all packed and ready to go just inside the door) at 11.02 and the house keeper was in the hallway and gave us terrible hassle about being 2 minutes late to collect our things. I must add we were completely out of the building by 11.04. Being such a brilliant company with otherwise wonderful customer service, I thought it was a shame as it was the last...
