I recently visited this restaurant and was initially impressed by the attentive front-of-house staff, who were more than happy to let us sit wherever we requested. We arrived right when the restaurant opened, and it was already spotless and tidy, which made for a welcoming first impression. The music was at a comfortable volume, adding to a pleasant atmosphere, and I appreciated that the tables weren’t cramped together, giving the space a roomy feel.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the service or the environment. We had a couple of mains— Vegan Margherita Rustic Pizza and Lentil Linguine—as well as Raspberry Cheesecake, Sweet Potato Fries, and a Raspberry Mint Cooler drink. The vegan options were particularly disappointing, with little flavor. If it weren't for the voucher I had, I definitely wouldn't have chosen to dine here. At nearly £50 for the meal, I felt it was overpriced for the quality of the food.
That said, our server Ola, who handled the bill at the end, was friendly. But overall, I can’t recommend this place based on the food quality. There are better options out there unless you have a discount or voucher.
I also witnessed an unfortunate situation during my visit where the front-of-house staff denied a regular man, who seemed to be a desperate tourist, the use of the restroom. While I understand that there are policies in place, it was a tough moment to witness. A simple act of kindness in such circumstances could have made a big difference. It’s little gestures like that which can really enhance the customer experience, and sadly, this one felt a bit cold. It's always important to remember that empathy...
Read moreI'm a big fan of Zizzi's. In the last ten or so years it has never let me down. While service was possibly a little on the slow side today, the food and drinks didn't disappoint. Blueberry and lemon mocktail with mint - de-licious. Kids thoroughly enjoyed their pasta while doing the menu puzzles. The value for money on a full 3 courses for kids was excellent. I hadn't paid enough attention to the menu to notice that the Rusticana was massive but I nobly ate the lot and enjoyed every Pollo Rosso (Rossa?) morsel. This branch of Zizzi's is well placed at the west end, so it was easy for family to meet from different parts of the city by public transport. We also had a good window seat to have a good nosy at what was going on. Staff very friendly and happy to make slight alterations to dishes though they could have pointed out that a casually ordered "cheesy garlic bread" for sharing came topped with onion chutney, something which made it problematic for half of the group to eat. Nonetheless I am always happy to go back. Always...
Read moreMe and my colleague have just had the meal from hell. Firstly we got seated in the restaurant and got left to look at the menu’s. It then seemed like the staff had forgot about us as we sat there starving and gasping for a drink. The food itself was nice however the customer service was some of the worst I’ve seen. The waitress gave me the impression she didn’t want to be there. She then collected our plates and didn’t bother asking if we wanted the dessert menu or the bill and just left us sitting there for another 30 minutes. We then payed the bill to which shortly after realised we’d been overcharged. As the service was so bad we decided to not even bother complaining as we just wanted to get out of there. Shortly after leaving the restaurant we both experienced severe diarrhoea. There was only one toilet in the place we were staying so one of us had to go in the bath. The smell was atrocious and we’ve now been seeing a therapist to help us deal with the whole experience. Safe to say we won’t be...
