Visited this Indian whilst visiting family in Edinburgh. We went for the lunch time special as a birthday treat. The choice on the lunch time special menu is very limited and the price is £12.95 for 2 courses and popadoms and pickles per person. There were 5 adults eating. When the popadoms arrived there were 5 (1 each) and only two very small dishes of pickles between 5 of us. I have never been to an Indian before where there was so little pickles provided, even for 2 of us there has always been a tray of 4. It was in fact fight for the pickles !!! The starters we choose were OK and size of the starters was average, but the real disappointment was when the main course arrived. All you got was a very small stainless steel like dog bowl approx 4 inch round and 2 inch deep with the chosen curry in. The taste of the different curry's was just bog standard and very little meat in the dishes. You had a choice of a nan or rice each, we all choose nan's but these were very dry and crispy as if maybe re-heated. Why they could not provide rice as well I don't know as it is pennies to produce. For a bill of £65.00 for five people to walk away not even feeling full it was a very expensive birthday meal. Would not recommend...

s by the staff at our hotel. We were not disappointed , we had poppadums with the pickle tray the sauce which coated the onions was unbelievable totally different to the normal red onions. In fact the whole pickle tray was amazing. My wife had Chicken Pakora to start pure thick strips of Chicken breast in a spicy crispy coating none of the limp batter which they are normally in accompanied by a spicy dip. I had sheek kebab starter moist juicy pieces of lamb with an unbelievable dip . My wife had a chicken curry with a difference the sauce was made of green apple and coconut we have never tasted anything like it spicy and full of flavour without overpowering spice. I had mother
s lamb curry all I can say is that it is the best curry I have ever eaten anywhere a traditional curry the lamb needed no chewing it melted in my mouth .Crispy garlic naan bread and perfect pilau rice made the meal complete . If you are in Edinburgh this is a must visit place many thanks... Read moreVery suspect re the good reviews on this restaurant which are totally at odds with my own experience and also that of some of my friends who agree that it has gone right down hill! Lunch time food overpriced for the very small tastelss portions you are brought. ( A previous reviewer was totally incorrect when they said you can eat all you can, as you are brought a very small dish by the waiter even when you pay £12.95 for the more expensive lunch). I have never had a more disgusting nan bread in the hundreds of Indian restaurants I`ve eaten in, which was small, stodgy and aenemic looking; I only ate it because there was so little in my lamb dish. The staff are very rude and totally ignored me when I said cheerio as I left, even although there was only another one customer in the restaurant. They preferred to stand and chat amonst themselves rather than open the door for me or say goodbye. In short, even if I was starving I would never go to this restaurant again as it is by far the worst Indian out of the hundreds I...
