This McDonalds review might be seen as unnecessary. It’s a McDonalds after all. The food is standard, although they do have a tendency to under-salt the fries. The McFlurry machine is working almost every time we are here and we rarely have issues with unavailable items - usually only special items at the tail end of their life. However, it is common that the receipt machines at the self service stations do not work.
The staff are usually friendly and reasonably fast, although we have experienced long wait times before. This McDonalds is a new style so you can’t see the kitchen or order properly at the till, we personally don’t like it, but it is how it is.
This location, however, is excellent if you enjoy people watching and judging. Late afternoon and early evening is the ideal slot to watch children throw food or clothing items at each other (the zone between the magic table and the tablets is the most prominent battle ground). Alternatively, the ones that fit perfectly underneath a carried tray run around and turn your path, or the path of the table service employees, into a true adventure. We have also witnessed footballs and giant gym balls being kicked around. The parents are usually nearby and either on their phone or staring into nowhere. The staff are excellent in cleaning up after the kids and usually the tables are clean shortly after departure of the families.
The later the evening gets, the more unaccompanied teenagers come in. Some of them are normal, but many are questionable. We’ve seen everything from Bikini top in February to skimask in July and usually extremely rude, loud, swearing and the beginning stages of fist fights. We have witnessed more than one staff member crying before. The mess they leave behind is usually similar to that of the small kids but it does get cleaned up by the staff.
If simple human entertainment is getting boring, the seats near the windows next to the roundabout outside also provides excellent views for bad driving, counting missed turn signals and near miss minor crashes.
Jokes aside, this McDonalds needs more security, bring in rules for bad behaviour and make sure their staff are okay, because whilst it might be entertaining on the occasional visit for us, it is their...
Read moreWent to the drive through tonight to have my order taken by the most depressed sounding staff member, manager Declan, who was very abrupt and rushed me when placing my order. it sounded like he would rather be watching paint dry than be at work.
When I pulled up to the window to pay there was no one there. I waited and waited but no one showed up. The car in front of me had done the same and so we both pulled up to the next window where the car in front took his food and left, as far as I’m aware without paying. Declan appeared and I said to him that there was no one at the last window to take payment. Declan let out a big sigh and said “that’s not my problem, you’ll just have to drive round again”. Again with a stinking attitude.
I asked Declan how I was supposed to know to keep waiting there without any indication as to when someone would pop up. Again Declan let out a big sigh and told me “I don't care. I have 4 staff on, I can’t have them sitting at windows waiting for you. It’s not my problem”. Before I could say anything back he turned and went to walk away.
I called over to him as he was walking away asking why his attitude was so poor. Again he comes back to the window, sighs again, and says “look it’s not my problem. I don’t care if you haven’t paid and I don’t care that no one was there”. Starting to now get annoyed I asked if I could pay at this window but again I was met by another sigh and “No, you can’t. I’ve already told you to go drive round. It’s not my problem” before he turned and started walking away a second time.
Admittedly this angered me so I called over to him again challenging his behaviour. He turned back, no sigh this time, but rather now speaking to me angrily, telling me again that he doesn’t care, and that now because I was now speaking to him with an attitude and challenging him I wasn’t getting served, saying he’s not going to take it and telling me to drive away.
Absolutely shocking service and frankly I’m disgusted at how I was spoken to and how Declan acted. Utter disgrace to...
Read moreCame here for something to eat with a younger sibling. When we arrived we spent 15 minutes waiting outside in the cold and rain. There were already around 10 people outside waiting when we got there. When we were walking round towards the door I did see free tables but no one came to notify the member of staff by the door that there were tables free. When we did finally get in the place was filthy. The floor was covered in grease and old food and rubbish, the bins were over filled. The tables weren't any better and there were tables still full of other people's rubbish. The people cleaning the table had left wet cloths on some of the tables also. The toilets were also filthy and the sinks were stained a disgusting yellow/orange colour, and all of the surfaces in there were dirty. Along with that, we spent 25 minutes waiting for the food. There were people who had come in after us and had sat down with theirs and we were still waiting. A family sitting behind us waited longer for theirs. They sat down as I got my food and when I finished half an hour later they were still waiting. We had to go back in an hour after we left the place because my younger sibling had left their hoodie at the table we were at. When looking around for it and asking staff we found it on the floor under the table covered in whatever was on the floor. The hoodie itself is easily washable but there were plenty of staff walking around to notice there had been a hoodie left laying, it could have been sent to the staff area in case someone came back for it. Instead it was shoved onto the floor. The food was still slightly warm when we got it which is great but it was soft and floppy which wasn't enjoyable, but it was edible so it's fine. The point stands that the hygiene standards are terrible and there are better McDonald's round about than this one. It's gone severely downhill over the years and I don't think I'll be...
