We are very disappointed following our visit to this restaurant yesterday. The service was appalling, and the food I would describe as average. The starters did not come out together and arrived spanning 45 minutes. Some of the group had finished their's a good 30 minutes before others arrived. One had to be returned because it was cold. When it came to the main courses, side dishes arrived without their accompanying main and mains arrived without their accompanying sides! The food came out sporadically, and, like the starters, some of the group had completed their meals prior to others even receiving theirs. The service of the main course spanned over 60 minutes. Food ended up being cold, but due to the obvious shambles in the kitchen, we didn't feel we could return food to the kitchen as we had a show to go to and were now running late for it. We made it clear to the staff that we were unhappy with the service, and when they presented the bill, in fairness to them, they had removed service charge and deducted 10%. However, on checking the bill, they had also added an extra bottle of Prosecco and charged us for a dish, which we ordered, but didn't arrived. A genuine mistake, I'm sure, but nevertheless annoying. What we did notice was numerous home delivery meals going out with delivery drivers, and it was clear that they were receiving preferential treatment over the diners in the restaurant. We felt sorry for the waiting staff, who were clearly trying their best, but it was obviously a kitchen issue where they clearly couldn't cope. We were aware of other diners experiencing similar issues. We appreciate that it's the start of the Edinburgh Festival and restaurants are busy however it was obvious that this restaurant had overstretched itself. During the Festival, people have tight timescales to meet for dining and show attendance. Booking a meal almost 3 hours prior to the start of our show, seemed 100% reasonable however, this was not the...
Read moreReally didn't enjoy the experience. Had planned a nice family day trip to Edinburgh and thought we would try this based on recommendations and the many good reviews. I'm not sure where to start because this is the worst meal I've ever had. Full stop. Firstly, the beef rendang tasted like it had been thrown through some paste and was served lukewarm. The beef meat was also chewy and did not taste fresh. The lamb massaman was okay in flavour and was hot but the meat itself was almost black, and poor cuts with lots of cartilage and excess fat- almost like goat meat that has been in the freezer for a long time. The sambal beef had such an excess of dried shrimp that the odour was overhwleming and it overhwlmed all other flavours in a sickening violation of the human palate. The egg fried rice was like boiled rice with shredded scrambled egg thrown in. The chips were lukewarm and had clearly been sitting in a food warmer. They also provided plastic drinking cups and plastic cutlery citing covid as the reason, which does not make sense as metal cutlery should be washed regardless of covid. Try cutting through tough meat with plastic cutlery- not fun. The food came in under 15 minutes and this speaks to the quality of the food, or lack thereof. We will not be visiting and I fed this back to the staff politely at the restaurant. The staff were friendly and polite and the toilet facilities were clean which is a bonus. I left feeling...
Read moreI used to love Nanyang and there mee goreng after not ordering from them since July last year I was sadly disgusted with the chicken that was used in my mee goreng it was dry and rock hard all the way round all the edges as if it had been left out in open air for days before cooking, not the same great mee goreng I had gotten so accustomed to. I believe if u happy with a service its best to share it then the owners can address any issues they feel are worth changing, my first issue was after being delivered a cold dinner and after calling I was given a gratuitous apology and refunded for my order, after that I just couldn't get enough of there tasty foods and was a regular every week at least once until the mee goreng started to get hotter and hotter until I simply couldn't eat it every fork full was laced with chilli, so I stopped ordering the spicy version, once I stared ordering the non spicy version then the chicken itself was questionable sometimes it looked like it had spent the night being trampled on a kitchen floor nd other times like hard dried out dated chicken. First order this year and sadly could not eat the chicken as old tough leathery dried out chicken breast I pictured the mess that is chicken, it used to look like chicken and used to be great quality now i cannot say that I felt the meat was old aired out. Noodles...
