Came in with some mates to try the bar after it changed to Oneils. Firstly the place looks fantastic, nice vibe and I like the seating arrangement and TVs which would be class for sporting events. Unfortunately the service was pants. Stood at the bar upstairs as the bartender continued his convo with his pals at the bar. Then people came to the bar and he served them as I’m still standing at the bar, apparently I need to do the work to get served. Lifeless interaction and pints later, all in unbranded glasses, with mine being far from full (pic attached). Brilliant. My next round was the same, bartender didn’t stop his convo as I’m standing at the bar waiting to spend money. This is hospitality now I guess. Anyway. My first and last visit. And 4 people with me felt the same. Easy way to lose 5 people I guess. Didn’t try the food but did see some coming out and it looked fantastic.

I recently visited the tron for a quick meal after putting down a deposit on my next tattoo, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and approachable, making me feel right at home. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food. I opted for the 5 small bites for £22, and every single one was absolutely delicious! The flavors were vibrant, and the presentation was lovely. Each bite was a joy to savor, and I left feeling thoroughly satisfied. I was also pleasantly surprised to discover that they offer a blue light discount, which is a fantastic way to support those in our community. Overall the tron provided an excellent dining experience, and I can't wait to return for more tasty bites. Highly recommended!

I came with a group of 4 to watch a rugby game. The pub was not crammed and had breathing space. Pros: you can book a table, pub is decent looking, decent toilets, friendly staff, very central location, reasonable prices for a great location Cons: slow service (understaffed?) especially during busy hours, one of our meals was not very fresh but they offered to change it, the food was served after a long wait and not warm, they didn't have coffee or tea when we went and cheaper alternatives were not offered. Might go there again for a drink to give it a second chance. £5.95 for a full English breakfast is a decent price. (Image is a £3.95 small veggie breakfast).

My partner and I visited here for our first round of drinks for the evening after a great day of activities, celebrating our anniversary.

After clearing our own table of lots of empty glasses that had been sitting for a while, left by a previous larger group, and bringing them to the bar ourselves (not even a slight acknowledgment of anyone at the bar who were all chatting amongst themselves), the service at the bar felt awkward and unwelcoming.

The person serving us (not going to name names publicly) was uninterested, blunt and unwelcoming from the get go. No effort to build any kind of rapport, let alone simply being friendly. Worth noting the bar wasn’t busy either.

After asking for proof of ID from us both (understandable), we were slightly agitated when asked again for our IDs not even 10 minutes later, by the same individual, both times making one of us go back to our table to ask the other to come to the bar, leaving our belongings unattended.

After a brief, admittedly agitated comment addressing it was the 2nd time we had been asked, the AGM involved herself confrontationally to escalate the situation, exclaiming that they wouldn’t recognise us if we had been served by someone else. After clarifying it was the same individual not long ago, said individual while looking at my ID, frowned, shrugged, and tossed my ID back at me into my hands.

Keeping my nerve and calmly asking them not to throw my ID at me, I returned to our seats before things escalated further. My partner returned with our drinks, noting that the AGM had cut me off and would refuse to serve drinks to me. Laughable as though we’d be sticking around past our drinks for more of their excellent hospitality.

I’m not surprised to see 2x 1* reviews in addition to this one from the past week alone for this establishment, if this is the team running it....

The Tron is very popular destination with students and young people in the Old Town. It is reasonably priced, has three different bars and always has a lively crowd.

Be sure to take you ID as the door staff take care to check everybody who comes in and its better not to be disappointed when you arrive and are turned away.

The prices are cheap compared to more up-market establishments as you would expect from a place popular with the large local student crowd. The selection of beers is limited to the most popular brands and as its a chain establishment you will be well used to the drinks on offer.

The juke box is as you would expect full of 90s tunes and they get a regular airing. When they show football matches they will often open the bottom bar and put up the big screen projector which makes for an excellent atmosphere especially if you are with a few friends.

The food is not amazing, they are well known for their 'Scream burgers' but if you are going out to eat then there are similar but better alternatives locally. If you want to have a drink and meet some new people though the Tron is a good place to start...

Stumbled across this place by accident when through to Edinburgh shopping with my girlfriends. What can I say.Great selection of food at very reasonable prices.I had the steak pie and one of my girlfriends had the curry the other one the fish and chips. All beautifully cooked and the service was great.Considering it's just off the Royal Mile, food and drink prices were amazingly good. We loved it so much it's now our go to place when in Edinburgh. Going to make a day and night of it and bringing our partners with us.They will love the excellent choice of craft beers and the fact that they have a sports bar downstairs where they show the latest football games and darts, rugby, formula one, boxing you name it they show it.And for us ladies it's Karaoke time with a few cocktails thrown in Great staff ,great food, great atmosphere, great entertainment, great selection of drinks and craft beers all at very reasonable prices. In the words of the immortal...
