Pizza Hut Restaurants Fountain Park — Restaurant in City of Edinburgh

4 of us went for a meal here tonight, NEVER AGAIN Firstly arriving and being greeted by the manager whom seemed to have no regard for social distance rules, standing within 1 meter of us at the entrance, no face mask, We then took a seat and was informed that the only way to order food was via a website using our own phones/ data. We were unaware of this, and see no mention of this when we booked our time slot online. We proceeded to order and pay online. The website was very minimalisticand slow, pictures of the food would have been nice!!

The food came in reasonable time,but was slammed down on the table by a larger female waitress, we never seen a smile from her all evening. We suspected she may have been under the influence of alcohol as twice I watched her trip over the same caution cone!! And bump in to various fixed items of furniture.

During eating we required another juice. So asked for a refill, expecting the refillable juices to be brought to the table as they used to be for as far back as I care to remember in pizza hut. But was told no. If we wanted another juice we would have to go back on our phone and order a drink again!! Following through the painfully slow website, entering card details etc again!!

We spoke with the manager about this, after several minutes arguing with us he offered to give 2 free juices. (There were 3 of us drinking the juice at the table).

The larger waitress was now cleaning the table behind me, but rather than standing at the opposite side of the table she chose to stand directly behind me, well within 1 metre. Obviously no respect for social distancing!!

I also asked for some parmesan cheese for my pizza. Apparently you cant have parmesan on your pizza due to the coronavirus!!! Never heard of a small amount in a dish?

A truly horrendous meal, with no face masks on any of the staff who all seemed to have no respect at all for social distancing...

I wish I didn't have to give it a single star. The star is undeserved.

Avoid this place like the plague.

The online ordering system was awful. How is it helping to have online ordering when the staff come to the table to talk to us and deliver food. Why not just take our order?

You did not honour my student discount and all valid discount codes I entered into the online ordering system did not work. The manager told me they weren't doing discounts on Friday and Saturday. If I didn't have hungry kids I would have left then.

You were out of mayonnaise. There's a grocery store across the street. A major corporate chain should never run out of condiments. I talked to another guest (whilst we queued for the bathroom - more on that below) who said you were out of additional items they tried to order.

You had all the bathrooms closed and only the disabled bathroom available to your guests. This caused a constant queue. Also, common sense would tell you that all guests using the same bathroom would create a more infectious environment than multiple bathrooms and stalls.

To this, the bathroom was disgusting. There was a sign posted that said "These toilets should be spotless" (We check them all the time) If they're not, just let us know and we'll sort it - - - - I can confirm that the bathroom was disgusting. Dirty toilet, water all over the floor and the toilet paper was wet and sitting on the floor in the puddle. I took pictures of this, and the corresponding sign, to send to you.

I spent £69+ for two pizzas, 3 appetisers - including chips with NO MAYO! Three cream sodas and one small beer. This is absolute robbery. Especially when you advertise a student discount of 20% and do not honour it.

I will note that the staff were nice, and I don't blame them - other than for the nasty bathroom.

Complete disgrace. Shame...

Sadly it's just not as good as it used to be pre COVID. Part of the enjoyment (especially for kids) was being able to pick from the salad bar and get their own drinks etc. Need to make sure you take a mobile phone with you as the only way to order is to access a website and place your order online for it to be brought to you table. Also, no cash payments so be sure to take a bank card. The salads are minimal and basic (lettuce, cucumber and tomato), not the options you used to get with the salad bar. No refills for drinks were available either... The service was also pretty poor, we watched while people entered and waited for someone to take them to a table as the sign asked, however they were waiting for a while before the staff noticed they were there, staff could pay a little bit more attention to the customers. This happened a couple of times while we were there. We were seated next to the toilets, not best pleased. We used to go quite a lot pre COVID and used to think it was great, sadly am unlikely to...
