Leith is literally awash with fancy shmancy brunch venues but Printworks is highly rated and always busy. Worth a try surelyâŠ
Avocado toast is my bench mark for any aspiring cafe and unfortunately on our visit it didnât quite hit the dizzy heights we anticipated.
The menu states that poached eggs are only available on weekends. How bizarre. But this Saturday they were unavailable and we had to opt for scrambled. Something not quite right there.
Whilst the portions were enormous and the ingredients of good quality it just felt a bit off. There was a hearty dressed side salad on the plate which really was just unnecessary for a brunch.
The service was also quite abrupt. A busy day but we werenât made to feel welcome and thatâs unforgivable. Maybe a snapshot on a less than perfect day but it didnât match our expectations and for the price didnât pass the value test too.
Pros: ingredients, great coffee, cake selection, decor
Cons: service, value, plating...
Read moreGreat cosy place, very nice people and service ! Their cakes and pastries look amazing, we had brunch and wraps which were delightful !!! Only disappointment (THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BUSINESS ITSELF), was the customers that keep bringing their dogs in these kind of places (3 dogs at the same time). Sorry but this is very disrespectful for the owners of food businesses and for other customers who might be scared of dogs or simply donât want to be eating with a big dog next to them. People nowadays think their way of living should be imposed to others... progressisme they say ! One customer had a dog that did not stop barking on everyone for half an hour in such a small cafĂ©, and the guy had zero concern of bothering others. It's a restaurant/cafĂ©, not a dog park ffs. You want a dog? great but take responsibility for our choices. Anyway, congrats to the owners and the staff, great job theyâre doing...
Read moreMy partner is a regular customer and when I was in the area on the walk with my 2.5 yo daughter, I popped in to order a take away coffee and babycino for the little one. I had a free coffee on our loyalty card and when it came to paying, staff charge me for the coffee. When I pointed out that I have a free one, they said that babycino was my free hot drink and I have to pay full price for a coffee. I donât think itâs fair to call â4 teaspoons of milk foam in espresso size takeaway cupâ a hot drink! Unfortunately the staff were uncompromised, which left my experience with the Printoworks a bit bitter. Coffee was tasty though and my feedback does not reflect the quality of the product.
Side note: itâs time to join the XXI century and cater for milk allergies and intolerance for NO EXTRA costs (like most places do). Charging extra for the milk alternative...
