During my recent visit to Quinn's Cafe, I indulged in their traditional Scottish breakfast, and it was an experience worth sharing. The meal was a delightful journey through the rich culinary heritage of Scotland, served with warmth and authenticity.
Atmosphere: Quinns Cafe’s ambiance perfectly complements the traditional meal. With rustic wooden furnishings and tartan accents, the setting felt cozy and welcoming. The friendly staff, clad in kilts, added to the authenticity and charm of the experience.
The Breakfast:
Black Pudding: The black pudding was exceptional. It had a rich, deep flavor with a perfect balance of spices and a pleasantly crumbly texture. It was savory without being overly greasy, making it an absolute delight.
Haggis: A true star of the breakfast, the haggis was cooked to perfection. It was hearty and flavorful, with a hint of pepper that complemented the oats and meat. For those wary of trying haggis, this is the place to have your first bite—it was simply divine.
Link/Sliced Sausage: The sausage was unlike any other sausage I've tried. Its square shape was intriguing, and its taste was even better. It was mildly spiced and juicy, a great addition to the breakfast plate.
Bacon: The bacon was thick-cut and perfectly crisp, yet it retained a wonderful chewiness. Its smoky flavor added depth to the meal.
Eggs and Potato Scone: The eggs were cooked to order, and I opted for scrambled, which were creamy and light. The potato scone was golden and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside, pairing wonderfully with the eggs.
Beans The beans were a comforting touch, adding a slight sweetness that balanced the savory elements.
Service: The service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable about the dishes and offered insightful recommendations. The meal was served promptly, and the staff checked in just enough to ensure everything was to our liking without being intrusive.
Conclusion: The traditional Scottish breakfast at The Quinn's Cafe was a culinary delight that showcased the best of Scottish cuisine. Each component was crafted with care and attention to detail, resulting in a hearty and satisfying meal. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this breakfast is a must-try. I left The Quinn's Cafe with a full stomach and a newfound appreciation for Scottish breakfast traditions.
Highly recommended!

Read moreVisited Quinn’s Cafe on a Summer Tuesday morning around 9:30am. I had seen the reviews (4.9 stars on Google) and thought I might as well check it out. I wasn’t expecting to get a seat considering that I was going solo and that is was late morning. I had assumed that they would prioritise couples and groups over a solo diner. I was happily proved wrong! I arrived and walked in without waiting to be seated (was a bit silly of me). It’s quite a small space for dining with limited tables. Immediately this really kind server asked if I was sitting in or taking food out. All the tables were taken so she had me sit at the back in a corridor with four high-chair seats. I sat there for around 5 mins and she came and took my order. Within those 5mins, a couple left from a table near the window. I, again, assumed that the server would give another couple the table over me (a solo diner). She was incredibly kind and prioritised me because I had walked in before the couple. Although this may seem like a very small gesture, it demonstrated to me that although profit is important, this owner and the server prioritise customer service above everything else! I could be totally reading into this exchange, but even so it made me feel appreciated just as much as the couples and groups. The atmosphere was brilliant with both the cook and server thanking everyone as they were arriving and leaving. It felt very cosy and personable. The Full Breakfast and Vanilla Milkshake were delicious. Everything cooked to perfection, and the server/cook happily explained everything on the plate to every customer in the cafe. The single server was attentive to every group and/or person in the cafe, making sure to clear tables as soon as someone left. It was clean, the music wasn’t too loud and they take cash or card. I would 1000% go here again. I would just like to mention that if you are part of a large group (4+) you may have to wait outside to be seated. Obviously depending on how busy it is, but because this place is highly recommended and small in size you might be turned away. Lastly, there are toilets inside and free WiFi. It isn’t really accessible for wheelchair users because there are stairs in the middle of the cafe. Plus because it is a small space it may be hard to navigate through the tables and chairs if in a wheelchair. That’s one downside to the area. But apart from that, it was a great dining experience....
Read moreWell, this place was a true hidden gem. So understated from the outside, it is quaint and warming from the moment you enter. We went based on the google reviews, and we are so grateful that we did. We entered and were immediately welcomed by some of the most hospitable people I have ever met. The Scottish get this label of hating the English and being unpleasant to visitors, but Quinn’s couldn’t be any further from this incorrect and misplaced stereotype. We received the loveliest welcome I have ever received, and were offered a table. We both ordered the vegetarian breakfast, mine without mushrooms and hers without beans. I also had a coffee, which arrived promptly and tasted excellent! The food arrived shortly after, served by another absolutely lovely and heartwarming fellow. He was so attentive, making sure everything was just right. What a lovely pair who own this fine establishment. The food was excellent, fair to say the best fry up I have ever had. The tatty scone made it (why these aren’t available down south I will never know) with everything else cooked to perfection. The veggie haggis was excellent, and the eggs done to perfection. All in all, it was a stunning breakfast and I wouldn’t hesitate on returning at my next convenience. Quinn’s made mine and my other halves trip to Scotland, they really did. It was wonderful, although it has ruined me for breakfasts down this way forever. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, not...
