For some reason this place came up when searching for vegan breakfast. Unfortunately this place does not offer vegan options as advertised. We ordered vegetarian breakfast omitting the meat and eggs and this only confused the owner/chef. He came over to our table absolutely bemused by what we ordered. We explained we don't eat meat or eggs. We ended having to just order the food separately, beans, tomato, mushrooms and chips, plus bread no butter. They did have alternative milk for tea. Bread was brioche, so couldn't eat that. The plate of food was rather small. Would have appreciated extra mushrooms and chips at least.
Overall paid 29 pounds for 3 meals with teas and orange juice. When you consider later on the day of our visit we went to @paradisePalms Lucky pig and had appetisers and main meals all vegan for 54 pounds with cocktails, the Coffee Mill Cafe was overpriced.
They did well to accommodate us. However I feel that this place should not come up as "vegan friendly". As it is certainly not...
Read moreWe visited The Coffee Mill Cafe for breakfast as a group during a busy time and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. While the exterior is quite modest, the atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in.
Service was excellent – friendly, efficient, and attentive. Even during the morning rush, tables were cleared and cleaned promptly, which added to the overall positive impression.
We ordered a variety of breakfasts: one full Scottish, one full English, and a couple of American-style breakfasts, along with a pot of tea, fresh juice, and coffee. Everything arrived very quickly, freshly prepared, and well-cooked.
Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable breakfast experience. The Coffee Mill Cafe delivers great food and service in a cozy setting – highly recommended if you're...
Read moreMy husband ordered the simple breakfast but asked for the bacon to be swapped for one extra egg. The breakfast was pretty disappointing straight away as there was only one sausage, sliced in half to take up more space on the plate. Our tea pots were only filled half way with water despite being small, and my veggie sausage was soggy. Then to make it all end even worse, they tried to charge 80p extra for the "additional" egg. When I pointed out it was instead of the bacon, they tried some nonsensical rationale about bacon being expensive... True... But we didn't have any...we swapped it for an egg, which is cheaper! Not sure if this is management policy or poor staff training, but in any case we won't be going back even though we live around the corner. Only positive was the fried eggs were...
