Recently stopped by Room Rumours Coffee on a long weekend in Edinburgh. Since we were only there a couple of days, it was difficult to decide which foodie spots to go to - I am very glad we chose this one! It appears they change their doughnut menu everyday or two, and I love that they update which flavours are available on their Instagram story each morning. A couple of the flavours the day we got there were mixed berry jam and peach & cinnamon. We went by as soon as we got off the train, as the shop is very close by! I love that they do mini versions of their doughnuts, meaning i was able to get both of the above flavours. The quality of the doughnut itself was beautiful, super soft, fresh, and well sugared. The filling was aplenty in both doughnut! The mixed berry jam - this was an excellent variant of your typical jam doughnut, and the jam was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The peach & cinnamon - now this was one of the best doughnuts I have ever had (and I get doughnuts everywhere I go!). The peach and the cinnamon both came through and complimented each other perfectly, and the consistency of the cream was light and smooth - absolutely incredible! I even went back the following morning and got another (luckily it was still on the menu)! Moreover, the staff were very warm and welcoming, and happy to have a chat while serving, despite being quite busy! I would highly recommend coming here for the doughnuts and hospitality 🙂

TLDR: Coffee is fine No Wi-Fi Card only I came here only because they were one of the few places in Edinburgh close to the train station that was open at 8am on a Saturday. My final bucket list place was closed until after my train leaves. : ( Super friendly barista was working by herself, and did an amazing job. But…no donuts. The coffee was fine. I’d say average good to my liking. I ordered a cinnamon roll - the American kind. It definitely was an American cinnamon roll, complete with overly sweet white frosting. And it wasn’t that great. Maybe if it had been fresh it would have been good, or at least warmed up. I sat in the window for the gorgeous view over the train station to the medieval buildings and the cliffs. It was a great view. I also got to see the face of everyone who was looking for Room & Rumours and then found it! And i think people come here for the donuts. They just walked in while I was sitting there after I ordered and was mostly done with my cinnamon roll. :( Aesthetically, it’s cute. It looks like they’ve tried to make it Basic-Instagramable. Cute neon signs, plants, very clean aesthetic. It was kind of a turn off for me. But that’s a personal preference. I had to take a few pics for the irony sake. No Wi-Fi. It looks like it could be available for customers, but they don’t give out the password. Pay with card only. In all, the coffee was fine, the cinnamon roll was fine. The place was fine. 4 stars.

Room Rumours Coffee is one of those cafés that instantly stands out as more than just a place to grab a coffee—it’s an experience. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was struck by the stylish and thoughtfully curated interior. The modern yet cozy décor creates a welcoming atmosphere, perfect whether you’re catching up with friends, working on your laptop, or simply taking a quiet moment for yourself. There’s a creative, almost boutique feel to the space that makes it memorable, and it’s clear that attention has been given to every detail.

Of course, the heart of any great café is its coffee, and Room Rumours Coffee absolutely delivers. Their commitment to quality is evident in every cup. I started with a flat white, which was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced—the espresso had depth and character, while the milk was steamed to velvety perfection. Later, I tried a pour-over, and it was a revelation. The clarity of flavours, the floral notes, and the subtle sweetness showcased the care that goes into selecting and brewing their beans. It’s the kind of coffee that makes you appreciate the artistry behind it, and it left me eager to return to try even more from their menu.

The food here is just as impressive as the coffee. Freshly baked pastries, delicious light bites, and carefully selected accompaniments make it a café that’s just as appealing for a casual breakfast or lunch as it is for a quick caffeine stop. I had a pastry with my coffee, and it was flaky, buttery, and clearly fresh. It’s the small touches, like pairing top-quality coffee with equally thoughtful food, that elevate the experience and make Room Rumours Coffee feel special.

The staff are another standout feature. Friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about what they do, they go out of their way to make every customer feel valued. They’re always ready to offer recommendations, explain the origins of the beans, or chat about brewing methods. This creates a personal connection that makes the café feel more like a community hub than just a business. I left not only with a great coffee but also with a smile, thanks to their attentive and genuine service.

Another aspect worth highlighting is the overall vibe of the café. Even during busy times, the atmosphere is calm and inviting. The layout allows for both social interaction and quieter moments, and the background music adds to the ambiance without overwhelming conversation. It’s a versatile space that works equally well for a quick stop or a longer stay.

In summary, Room Rumours Coffee has everything you could want in a specialty café: outstanding coffee crafted with care, delicious food, warm and knowledgeable staff, and an atmosphere that encourages you to slow down and enjoy the moment. It’s clear that this is a place built with passion, and it shows in every detail. Whether you’re a serious coffee enthusiast or simply someone looking for a great café in Edinburgh, Room Rumours Coffee is a must-visit. I can’t recommend it highly enough, and I know it’s a spot I’ll return to...

Room Rumours Coffee is a standout café that offers an exceptional coffee experience in the heart of Edinburgh. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere that makes it immediately clear this is more than just a place to grab a drink—it’s a destination for coffee lovers. The interior is stylish and contemporary, yet cozy, creating the perfect balance between modern design and comfortable, inviting spaces. It’s the kind of café where you feel encouraged to sit, relax, and truly enjoy your coffee.

The coffee at Room Rumours is nothing short of outstanding. Every cup is prepared with precision and care, reflecting the café’s dedication to quality. On my first visit, I tried a flat white, and it was perfectly balanced—creamy, smooth, and rich in flavour. The espresso had depth and character, while the milk was velvety and expertly textured, creating a cup that was both comforting and sophisticated. I later sampled a pour-over, which highlighted the beans’ unique notes and showcased the clarity and complexity of the flavours. It’s evident that the team takes immense pride in sourcing high-quality beans and preparing each drink with skill, making every sip a delight.

The food menu at Room Rumours Coffee is equally impressive. Freshly baked pastries, light bites, and wholesome options complement the coffee perfectly. I tried a buttery croissant with my cappuccino, and it was flaky, delicious, and fresh, making for the ideal pairing. The menu offers something for everyone, whether you’re popping in for a quick snack, enjoying a leisurely breakfast, or having a casual lunch. Each item is thoughtfully prepared, showing the same attention to detail as the coffee.

One of the standout aspects of Room Rumours Coffee is the staff. Friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable, they make every visit feel personal. They are happy to offer recommendations, explain the nuances of different brewing methods, and ensure that every customer has a pleasant experience. Even during busy periods, service is smooth, efficient, and attentive, which adds to the overall welcoming atmosphere.

The café’s ambiance is another highlight. Calm and relaxed yet vibrant enough to feel lively, it’s perfect for socialising, working, or simply enjoying a quiet moment. The combination of excellent coffee, high-quality food, attentive staff, and a comfortable environment makes Room Rumours Coffee a standout destination in Edinburgh’s bustling café scene.

In summary, Room Rumours Coffee is a true gem. Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or just someone looking for a welcoming place to unwind, this café delivers exceptional drinks, delicious food, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s a place you’ll want to return to...
