My favourite cafe in town run by a fabulous husband-wife team. Great coffee, beautiful loaf cakes and hot sandwiches. When I come to Roundsquare, I'm quite pleased at how bright and vibrant the interiors are without being over the top. There are indoor plants hanging from shelves and corners, red brick wall panels and large windows. Clearly, the owners have made an effort and to me that's a huge green flag. I also like how well balanced the menu is and how fresh the food & beverages are here. After trying their coffees, teas, cakes and hot sandwiches since a year, I can say this is my favourite cafe that I visit at least once or twice a week. It's got an upbeat vibe that's reflected from the welcoming smiles of the husband-wife team that run the place - Akin and Burcu.May your tribe increase 🙏🏼 I usually get the rich flavoured coffee that comes without the burnt/bitter taste I normally get from some other cafes. The fresh tea cakes have just the right sweetness. While it's hard to pick a favourite, the Lemon slices are what I usually order. Equally good are the carrot and banana cakes. As also the brownies and cookies. I tried a veg hot sandwich on my last visit and was impressed with the toasted bagel with hummus. It's simple food but it's fresh, well made and tasty. And for a Morningside cafe, it's priced quite reasonably. Highly recommended!

As I walked in, there was no one behind the counter so I just entered and was unsure as if the staff come over to me. I realised about 20 minutes later, as a staff member who was talking to someone else in the corner said to me you need to come up to order at the counter. If places like that could let you know and maybe have someone standing behind the counter it would help a lot. Food wise, I had the waffles and they were so good. Worth the wait in the end. The place however was very cold I can imagine if it was a warmer day this wouldn’t be a problem. The place was nice and spread out, it was quiet the morning I came in so it was a nice atmosphere. Overall all the place was nice just very confusing first when I walked in of what was going on.

i ordered an iced matcha latte with no sweeteners/syrups. it tasted quite grassy and mild in the sense that i think the latte had too much milk for the amount of matcha. the matcha itself didn't seem whisked well enough as it came quite separated. i probably wouldn't order this again. the coffee shop itself though is quite cute and spacious with plenty of seating and laptop friendly (many charging ports). on top of that the staff are really sweet and kind! [disclaimer: i think its difficult to review a place properly after only having tried one drink off their menu so please take this as more of a product review rather than a generalisation of the whole coffee shop]

I used to go to Roundsquare before ownership changed from the two lads who started up the shop to whoever owns it now. Back then it was interesting, the coffee was made well and tasted good, and the conversation was always inviting.

Now, however, while the staff are friendly enough, the coffee is very lackluster. I ordered a flat white and it was over-extracted, bitter, and far too milky. Essentially, it tasted as if it were made at Costa as opposed to a specialty coffee house.

Don't go here if you ACTUALLY want good coffee. If you are fine with mediocre coffee and want a trendy looking spot to plant your butt and do a few hours of work, then this is... fine.

Since I live in the area, I have given Roundsquare several fair chances since the ownership changed, and I've been disappointed at every instance. While I have no doubt that with additional professional barista training, effective continuous cleaning of their espresso machine, and perhaps a better selection of bean, this place has mega potential, said potential...

First, I will say that the coffee was delicious and the cute animal art in the froth was adorable.

Unfortunately we felt a little let down by the food - we’d ordered a bacon sandwich and scrambled eggs on toast (with bacon too). The coffees came out separately and five minutes apart and then all the food came out five minutes apart too, so one person was eating while the other sat there waiting. The bacon had been microwaved or similar as were the eggs, nothing special sadly. The dish oddly came with grapes too?!

There was a bulb overhead that was flickering continuously too and was almost migraine inducing, not great if someone in the cafe was epileptic!

It wasn’t particularly busy so I’m unsure why there was such a delay between coffees and food coming out, not sure if it’s like this all the time or just a one off but I’m not sure...
