We came in today for the first time with my husband, son and a friend. I must say that I was not impressed by the service. I am usually an easy client to please, but I felt unwelcome and patronised by the young lady at the till. We had no idea about the shop, the experience and the options to expect. We came in very impressed by the list of flavours available. Very excited to try some. I went straight into the queue and waited for a turn. When it was my time to order, I made my selection. I asked for ice creams and coffees to sit in. The lady made comments and said that I should not be allowed in as I was ordering at the till. I understood afterwards that you also offer table service upstairs. However, instead of being condescending, unfriendly and unprofessional, the staff members could have just asked and explained the concept. We wanted to sit in to enjoy some yumminess with our four-year-old. On a positive note, our ice creams were delicious. I am impressed by the number of flavours available. I loved the Dragon fruit sorbet and Nutella ice cream - I highly recommend them. The staff upstairs was amicable and professional. I’m not sure if we’ll come back, to be honest. It’s a shame as we all enjoyed the treats but had an abysmal experience, and while eating my ice cream, I could not think about my recent experience. I even questioned if I had this poor treatment because of my French accent.

We got Eggs on Toast (£6.30), Junior tomato & basil pasta(£5.60) and 3 scoops of ice cream (£6.45). They were really nice but for eggs on Toast especially for that price I was expecting at least a small salad next to it, but it was literally just eggs on Toast which disappointed us a bit. Junior tomato & Basil pasta was nice as well but I found it very watery for some reason, but generally it was nice. We quite liked the ice cream, we got strawberry, vanilla and pistachio. They were nice. We generally had a great time, but tbh I wasn't expecting egs on Toast to be more expensive then pasta coz pasta had much more things.

You get what you pay for! Delicious ice creams with a nice range of creative flavours 🍦. This is a popular place so expect queues at peak times. They also sell all sorts of treats from candy to chocolate bars. The prices are well set given the quality of the ice cream. If you want a better bargain, go for the pre-packaged tubs in the freezers. We gave 4 stars because the person serving the ice cream wasn't wearing gloves and given they touch around including the cone you eat, we felt it was important to drop a star. Overall, a great ice cream place and a definitely worth a visit!

Having been a regular at the Musselburgh branch and having never had any complaints about the service, I must say that I’m utterly appalled by what I witnessed at the Morningside branch. The service staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, I was personally served by a lovely young lady and very sweet young man in the upstairs area. They were kind and conversed while placing my order and were very good at recommending the wide variety of different options and checking up on me regularly.

However, I did witness some truly awful behaviour from what I presume to be a manager towards the floor staff. It was a very unfriendly woman with brown hair and wearing a black shirt, different to the purple of the rest of the team. The very atmosphere of the upstairs was oppressive, while friendly towards customers it was almost as if they were afraid of this woman. Which doesn’t speak volumes of her treatment if they were so on edge that it was noticeable to both myself and my partner. She was incredibly condescending to the staff, snapping at them for no great offence and seemed very irritated when I asked for her help on one occasion.

Beyond this, the food was of a subpar quality and the ice cream was mediocre. This could have been forgiven because of the friendly staff if it were not for that manager. While I will be happy to return to the Musselburgh branch, I cannot in good conscience return here. I’ve previously heard good reviews from friends who’ve been here previously, but standards have...

Horrible experience. If I could give it -10, I would. The rude woman that some people are talking about is still there and as obnoxious as ever. I went in some time ago to buy some chocolate to take away and I felt so uncomfortable by her behaviour. I was ready to walk out and regretted buying anything from this shop. She was trying to rush me, couldn't hear me, huffing and puffing as well as being short and abrupt. I keep seeing messages from management asking people to email back and give more details so they can investigate (wasting more of their time). No need to do this with me. You know who it is and what is happening. Older, than the rest of the staff, lady with brown hair, possibly the manager. I was in with my family and they were really surprised I ended up enduring this appalling behaviour. Also, she needs to wear her gloves properly and not use them like little bits of paper to pick up the chocolate. I have no idea where that glove had been prior to serving me (judging by the way it looked and was used). There are many lovely alternatives in the area and I would strongly recommend Harvest and Green just up the road from Lucas. Excellent atmosphere, service & staff...
