The restaraunt is split up into two areas. A food and drinks section, and a food section. We booked the food and drinks section from their website, only to be sat in what felt like a pub that belonged next to a Hibs Stadium. There was a lot of profanity being shouted around the bar. Felt a bit on edge really. There was no toilet paper in the men's toilets. Not Ideal if you're mixing Indian with lager! I couldn't comment on the other room which looked a bit more fancy which is what we originally wanted when booking. It looked nice. The website should make it more clear which area is which.
Onto the service, We waited 10 minutes before someone would even acknowledge us. Before taking our order I asked the waitress if she could move us somewhere more quiet from the swearing and shouting at the bar. She said she'd see what she could do. Never got back to me. When placing our meal choices, I asked a question about one of the dishes in which she replied 'I don't know, I'm new here.' I'm totally fine with someone not knowing the answer to something, you're new! Of course you won't know everything. But If it were me serving I would go and find out for the customer. Rather than simply saying 'I don't know' It's poor service. Our main course arrived before our drinks did, never experienced that before my throat was on fire from the starter and needed quenched. We had three different waiters serving us, the whole thing felt like a clown fest. Waiters having no idea which table for which dish was going. I do not blame the waiters themselves for this. I think this is from bad management, the place looked busy but there was no communication between staff clearly.
The good bit. The food, the lamb was incredible. Falling right off the bone. The combination of the nan and sauce was delicous. I loved it. One gentlemen at the end came over and asked how everything was which we apperciated and I was honest with him saying it felt like a pub but the food was tasty.
So I have mixed feelings about this place. Would I eat here again? Probably not based off of the service.
Would I order a takeout from here? Absolutely. The...
Read moreTheir Sunday buffet lunch is one of the best quality Indian buffets we know in Edinburgh. For just under £10 per person, you have a wide selection of dishes from Indian style starters, curried prawns, several types of chicken, lamb, samosas, dhal, rice, chappattis, etc, etc. To finish it off, there is a small selection of desserts, usually two types of fruit salads, indian sweets, indian puddings and a gateau. We only discovered this place two months ago, but have been going there every Sunday! The quality of the Indian food is not the run-of-the-mill curry joint, the chef in this restaurant can really cook! As for ambiance, it's quite pleasant, sometimes, the music may be a bit too loud, but if you ask the staff to turn down the music, the always abide. I was quite surprised to read someone who commented that the curry had no spice ! What rubbish is that? Does this reader want to eat curry till fire comes out through her nose and ears?? Then, she might complaint that the curries were too hot!!! The curries were very tasty and spicy enough. In fact, we found one of the skills of this chef is that he(or she?) really know how to blend his/her spice in just the right quantities. Another reader here commented that the "Indian staff was rude". Actually, many of the staff there were not Indian, at least, not when we went on Sundays.....most of them were from Eastern Europe. And they were all very pleasant , and helpful. The Indian staff were also pleasant. Guess some customers can be very difficult and they are hard to please! If you want to eat a really "Classy" Indian curry at a good price, go for the Sunday buffet. We cannot comment...
