I used to love the Tic. Went there with a pal who was visiting Edinburgh recently as he wanted a nice, quiet pub for a whisky. We rocked up in the afternoon and it was nice and quiet. I don't drink so we went to the bar to order a coffee. Well, let me tell you, I was unaware that the person serving had a lost love by the name of coffee. This must be true as the amount of venom she spat at me for having the audacity to order one at the bar was, like the alleged size of Willem Defoe's member, confusingly large.
Was advised, by the person, that if I wanted a coffee, I could go to all the other coffee places nearby. I laughed it off. No comedy from them though. I asked if they were serious and got no reply. Another member of staff apologetically informed me that there was no milk but they could make a black coffee. I accepted and thanked and apologised profusely, trying to clear the air, but the mood was soured.
I won't be back. One bad interaction does not a bad review make, but one bad interaction followed by five minutes of awkward silence as the two people working wordlessly made and charged me for an overpriced and, frankly, terrible coffee, deserves a bad review.

Read moreThe Antiquary is everything you need from a bar from the selection of beers to the fantastic array of cooked food on offer.
The bar is split into two very distinct sections: one interlaced with televisions and seating for live sporting events whilst the other more spacious for conversations and gatherings. Plenty of seating all around though advise to either reserve tables or come early if you want a seat to watch a game.
What stands out for me is the food - this is the place to go for a weekend brunch, especially if you are partial to a cooked breakfast. The meal, whilst seemingly simple, can leave many restaurants stumbling, The Antiquary has the dish perfected. It is my go to destination for lunch with friends and casual drinking in the afternoon whilst watching a game.
The only fault I have is, phone signal within the bar is very limited, so be warned if you need to contact others. The bar is equipped with wifi however, though it wasn't obvious to me where the password...
Read moreNew to area and popped out for a little walk to Stockbridge. Come across this bar and thought we'd grab a drink and bite to eat.
The young lady that greeted us was very welcoming. We got drinks and took menu's to the table. She then brought over a mini specials board for us to look over. All the food was very reasonably priced.
Once I finally made my mind up, we both went for homemade burgers, the food took no more than 20 mins to be served.
The food was amazing, my burger was the Islander and the slice of black pudding was as thick as the burger.....and both perfectly cooked. The thick cut chips.....I wanted more!!!
Again the service was fantastic!!!!
If in the area, or if near by I strongly recommend a visit, as you will not be...
