We’ve been customers for years (grew up in Conwy and moved back to the area a few years back) and would always bring visitors to Archway for fish and chips. They were simply the best.
For the last few months the quality of the food had been hit and miss and the service has gone completely downhill.
The staff (mostly teenaged girls) seem to just want to chat and banter with one another rather than being proactive and serving promptly. Rather than helping one another complete orders they stand idle once their till is up to date. This means that you have to wait an unnecessarily long time. From a customer’s point of view the place’s previous reputation is being undermined by a lack of professionalism front of house.
The poor girl who served me tonight seemed new. She was trying her best and doing fine, but when she needed help the other girls couldn’t have cared less. At one point she asked one of the others where to find more cheese and the girl she was asking responded as though she’d been asked the most stupid of questions. In the end the fryer had to step in and help the new girl. None of the other servers were busy at this point and should have stepped in to help the new girl with her orders (she had three orders pending).
Tonight’s food was luke warm after the cheese kerfuffle and I’d estimate I’d had to wait 20 minutes for my food. There had been plenty of fish ready and cooked and had the other girls chipped in and helped I could have been out the door in 5 minutes.
Seems like stronger leadership front of house is required.
Sad to say I won’t be coming back. I’ve heard too many good things about Woosey’s in Gyffin and Enochs in...
Read moreI've been to many Fish & Chip shops around the UK and I would say the Cod & Chips I purchased from Archway were in my top 4, they were fantastic! The cod was white and moist, the batter was thin, golden and crispy, and the chips were golden and hot. I really liked the cardboard boxes they came in too. My only negative was the small wooden take-away forks provided were far too small to pick up fish making eating difficult, however luckily I had some camping forks in the boot of my car. The Archway Fish & Chips also offer 2 types of curry sauce too; fruity or Chinese which is cool! I went for the Chinese which isn't too hot and has a good flavour. If you are in the Conway, Wales area (LL32 8NH) I totally recommend you check out The Archway Fish & Chip shop...you will NOT be disappointed. It is also one of the cleanest and modern looking Fish and Chip I have visited, and hygiene is extremely important in this type of business and the The Archway clearly...
Read moreAbsolutely awful. This WAS MY CHIPPY OF CHOICE until the last few occasions where i was met with staff who made me feel like i was begging for food bear in mind, our minimum order on each visit over the last 5 years is between £20-£60. On one occasion they forgot to give me the drinks and i complained and they said they would tell me to mention it next time i came in. On the next occasion i mentioned the drinks were owed from the last occasion but the staff made me feel like i was trying to scam some drinks. On this occasion, i got the drinks but they forgot to give me gravy! I realised when i was on the motorway leaving conwy. My experience has been terrible even though the chippy is great on a whole. The young lady serving at front cant even be bothered to treat customers with respect and do their job properly. I will not be travelling next time to get four pots of gravy from...
