We had drinks at the Bank of Conwy, during our holiday in North Wales. The building and decor inside is so quirky, retro and emphasises the history of the place. After only having drinks, we had a disappointing experience here. We felt this was due to staff customer service; we were sat tucked away in a quiet little corner, which was great at first but we found that staff were not serving us, and due to current Covid restrictions, we weren't supposed to be getting up and ordering at the bar. However, it began to feel as though we had been completely forgotten about, so my partner had no choice but to get up and ask for drinks. When he did this, he felt awkward and as though it was the wrong thing to do. Staff were not serving us often enough, or keeping an eye on our glasses to see if we wanted more drinks. A couple of members of staff stood out to us for things that didn't always happen directly to us, but I thought were unprofessional and didn't create a pleasant atmosphere. In one instance, a member of staff made a bit of a scene in telling someone they had to remain seated, but this happened in front of the whole room instead of discreetly speaking to the customer. Another member of staff, who seemed to be in charge, was generally abrupt in her manner. At one point, my partner was given the wrong drink, and he had to go up to get it changed (because of the staff not circulating the room, it seemed) and when it was replaced by her, there was no apology and it was all rather abrupt. I probably sound very snooty or judgemental, but I just believe that good customer service is all about two basic, but important things: manners, and good communication. We felt that we didn't always receive good customer service whilst...
Read moreMy partner and I were visiting the area. Menu looked great and as it was cold fancied something hot to eat. Walked in, and immediately bar man said "you need to wait by the door". Then a lady approached us and said very ubruptly "you need to put your mask on; we have gone back to square one again." We were offered a choice of 2 tables but there was hardly anyone in there and the atmosphere was very cold. We felt most unwelcome so left immediately.
The food may be good but staff need to learn how to address people. It is a difficult time for everyone but we do not deserve to be spoken to like School children.
Just had lunch at the White Bakery opposite which is independent and run by a lovely Turkish family. The food was fantastic and every customer was warmly greeted with a smile. They will go far and I...
Read moreNice food with bad service and attitude. The food for my two friends came out a long time before mine. Eventually as they were finishing I went to the bar to ask where mine was. I had been in this restaurant for at least 30 minutes at this point and had already previously ordered from the bar. The barmaid accused me of "not wearing a top" in front of a restaurant full of customers and wouldn't serve me until I put another on. This is a beach town and my top was bigger than a bikini top and I was wearing a long skirt. If I had just been told upon entering or when I ordered I wouldn't have minded. Instead I was called out and embarrassed in front of many customers. Completely ruined my day and still feel like crying as I write this. Eventually my food arrived and to be fair it...
