This is one of those places you do not want to tell anyone about, because it is so good you want to keep it to yourself, but equally you want to tell others so they can enjoy it too. Ideally situated, roadside parking can be tricky but plenty. The menu is slightly different than the average, but there is nothing average about this place. The greeting is friendly and they offer a good variety of tasty mains, all made with precision. And that's before you get to the pastries, cookies and cake. The bread is exceptional, I could have had just bread and butter and I would have been very happy. You can also buy loaves of bread to take home. Service is speedy and impeccable. So why did I drop a star, bit mean of me, but the teapot could stand an extra tea bag and the bread is so good, a serving option of some small wedges with dipping oil would be heavenly. There is seating for around 30 people or so inside, and some outside too, so it is not so big, which makes it cosy and efficient. Great atmosphere suiting diners of all ages. All in all not quite perfect, but very close. Definitely one on the return list. The guys do a first class job. You will not be...
Read moreThe scrambled eggs were very good, but that’s about it. We went on Saturday morning before the Moreton fair, and the two women serving us were really unfriendly. I caught the blonde one making the coffee roll her eyes at us when we asked about the salads which made me feel VERY uncomfortable. I wanted a takeaway salad but they were left out on the counter and looked so dry and with people standing right over them, talking, it seemed quite unhygienic so I decided against it in the end. It was quiet, but most tables were full of dirty plates. When I asked if someone could clear a table, the same lady said, “we’ll get to it when we can,” while the staff just stood around chatting. Both coffees were awful. The flat white had more foam than a cappuccino, and my latte was weirdly bubbly on top (I've never seen a coffee like that before) and it was so bitter I couldn’t drink it. The scrambled eggs were the only good thing, but we won’t be coming back. It's extremely overpriced for a very average cafe with bad...
Read moreOur food was so unexpectedly poor that I made an exception to post a negative review. The shakshuka was served with an almost raw egg; we sent it back and it returned a few minutes later rubbery. We assume it was microwaved rather than placed back in the oven, thereby ruining what might have been a decent dish.
I ordered avocado on toast with feta and mushrooms, which was literally that. A sliced avocado and a separate pile of feta on impossibly hard-to-cut toast. A meager sprinkling of a herb mix on the avo, and cold mushrooms on the side. It was utterly bland and completely lacking in imagination. A child could do better - mine could while still at primary school!
On a more positive note, the French toast was quite good. The staff were friendly and comped us a coffee for the shakshuka, but our experience suggests a lack of care and interest in the kitchen, that...
