The bed was really Comfy and the room was very large, huge bathroom. The staff at breakfast were amazing and couldnt do enough for us. Checking in staff need a bit more training, have a smile. It was at the top of the Building up some really wonky stairs with a hand rail on only one side. Inside the room we found earplugs in the drawers , this isnt a good sign. Looking out the windows we soon found out why, all of the fans were below us. They did go quiet at 21:30 though. We booked in and payed our money, then asked if we could book dinner and we were told no its full up, yet there are tables outside? We asked about the next night and were told that would be fine but they didnt offer to book then. The next night we asked about Dinner, we checked at 17:00, to be told they had a travelling group in at 6 and they could probably get us some food at 19:30. Poor service. We went over the road to the Talbot, which actually offered more choice and were much happier to seat us and feed us. Shame we didnt stay there. Breakfast was promising but let down on the second morning where most items had been deep fryed to death. I wouldnt say it was worth the cost and probably better to stay else where.

We had dinner on a Saturday night here, it was sensational. Super cosy, great atmosphere and service, and during such a busy period there was nothing at fault. Food was delicious, very homely and exactly what you want when it’s freezing outside, coming inside for a cosy warm pub with a great feel. The braised beef was melt in the mouth, and the pie was perfect - both seeming to be made with love and attention. Lots of locals coming in and out for drinks, which showed how popular it was. I would recommend booking especially for weekend dinners. Will definitely return again.

Fantastic two night stay booked across two rooms. Our cottage room (room 2) had a downstairs 'living space', the bed in a spacious upstairs. The second room of our booking had a lovely view of the square. Both rooms were beautiful and very clean. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided etc. Our food was fantastic, especially the breakfast which was superb. Also, can't praise the staff enough. Everyone was so helpful and genuine. Special mention to James who served us both evenings. Great guy. Would recommend the King's Arms to anyone!

We were put in one of the out buildings – No2. We did arrive early and saw a couple of nice young girls on reception we explained we was early but our cars was parked and just wanted to let them know, our room wasn’t ready but that was not a problem to us we went to the bar and had a drink. |On seeing the room/building it was clean but a bit tired. The bathroom was downstairs and the bedroom was up on a very creaking/noisy mezzanine floor. The shower had paint flaking from the ceiling, the corner soap basket was rusty. The shelf’s by the bed was all chipped and paint was off them. There was a skylight above the bed but right outside it was scaffolding which workers was on and started work the following morning at 8am. |A big issue was the Wi-Fi was non-existent in this building to the point we couldn’t even make calls without going outside (ok not such a problem for most people but I have elderly unwell parents which I’d arranged someone to be there but needed to keep an eye on the comings and goings on the ring door bell and camera’s which was impossible). |I also found it difficult to do my makeup as the only daylight I could sit in front was the window that was on the windy part for the stairs really hard when you twisted sideways on narrow stairs – I know not everyone would have this issue. |The food was lovely in the restaurant, real nice breakfast and the staff was nice and polite. Hotel itself is in a really good location for the...
