Our stay at The Priory Inn, Tetbury was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the warm hospitality and professionalism of the staff set the tone for a truly memorable experience. Everyone I encountered was attentive, approachable, and genuinely committed to making guests feel comfortable and well cared for.
The rooms were beautifully presented—clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed with a balance of comfort and character. The beds were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the little touches, such as quality toiletries and complimentary refreshments, made the stay feel extra special.
The dining experience was a highlight. The restaurant and bar serve excellent food, made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The menu had a wonderful variety, catering to all tastes, and the breakfast was hearty and delicious. The bar offered a great selection of wines, ales, and cocktails in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
The inn is perfectly located for exploring Tetbury and the surrounding Cotswolds. Many charming shops, historic sites, and scenic walking paths are within easy walking distance, making it a great base for both leisurely strolls and day trips.
Facilities were well maintained and thoughtfully arranged. The atmosphere throughout the property felt safe, calm, and family-friendly, with good attention to security and cleanliness. Whether traveling solo, as a couple, or with family, you feel reassured and at ease.
What stood out most were the small, thoughtful details—personalized touches in the rooms, the genuine warmth of the staff, and the seamless blend of modern comfort with traditional charm. These are the things that elevate a good stay into a truly memorable one.

Read moreAttended the Priory last evening and have to say the experience was far from what we had hoped and based on the reviews that we had read. We booked a table online which was very straightforward and arriving at the venue filled us with hope of fine food and good ale. Where shall I begin, we ordered drinks that arrived in good time and the waitress came for the food order and we were then informed that the Christmas menu wasn't available although the website said it started on that day. We chose again only to be told that the dish I requested had run out. It would have been nice to have been told this before the choices had been made. I ordered beef brisket which when arrived was a good size with potato rosti and broccoli which was raw and I was barely able to cut never mind chew. My wife ordered ham, eggs and home cut chips which they certainly were not, and when this arrived I can only say it was the greyest plate of food I have ever seen and was even less appealing to eat as it was to look at. Not wishing to spoil our anniversary we suffered in silence, as the sight of another diner who ordered the ham and eggs had received similar food. Things went from bad to worse as I ordered another drink from the bar and when it arrived it was not what I had ordered but a different ale altogether. Finally to add insult to injury we decided to forego the dessert and asked for the cheeseboard at £16.00 which we thought what can go wrong with some local cheese and crackers? When it arrived the amount of cheese on the board wasn't a portion for 1 person nevermind 2 and our crackers turned out to be burned griddled toast and grilled tortilla. It completed the most disappointing meal my wife and I have eaten in years and ruined what was supposed to be a celebration. This from a 3 star AA listed hotel is just not good enough, and was massively overpriced for the food on offer. We will not be...
Read moreLet's be honest here, we chose to stay at the The Priory Inn for our visit to Westonbirt primarily due to location and price. What we didn't expect but were delighted to receive, was such a warm welcome from the staff, a large, clean, quiet and comfortable room with a HUGE bed. Loved the bed!
Also, we very much appeciated the well stocked hospitality tray; especially the Cotswold Hills Spring Water and locally made biccies.
The bathroom, while small, was clean and fresh smelling and had the biggest bath towels I have ever seen in my life! The shower was hot and powerful too, so another box ticked.
We decided to eat in the restaurant which boasts a 30 mile ethos. We certainly challenged them by ordering pizza but even the organic flour came from a local mill. Everything is cooked to order so, even if there is a little wait at busy times, it sure is worth it.
Each dinner table also had an update from the owners - an interesting read for me anyway. I am a keen cook and grow my own herbs, so I enjoyed reading about The Priory Inn's development in this area with the renowned Jekka McVicar.
The Priory also provides space for talented local artists. Many of these are for sale. Their works - not the artists themselves!
Breakfast was fab too. Everything was locally sourced and cooked to perfection.
Add to this the free parking at the hotel (only couple of minutes stroll from the centre of Tetbury), complimentary WIFI (very fast and reliable), the excellent location in the beautiful English Cotswolds and you have the perfect base from which to explore this...
