We visited Dosa Village on a Sunday evening with rather sceptical expectations, but I must say we left thoroughly impressed.
The restaurant is quite spacious, with plenty of available seating when we arrived. The ambience could do with a bit of improvement, the lighting, furniture colours, and overall décor give off a slightly dull, uninviting feel, which at first gave the impression of poor hygiene. However, on closer observation, the tables were clean, and there was no visible mess or stickiness, so I could see the staff were doing their part to keep the space tidy.
A special mention to the girl who attended to us, she was incredibly polite, attentive, and down-to-earth, which made a great difference to our dining experience.
Now, onto the food: • Mysore Masala Dosa – Absolutely delicious! Without a doubt, this was the best dosa I’ve had since moving to Coventry. • Masala Dosa – Equally tasty, perfectly crisp with well-balanced flavours. • Chicken 65 – Flavours were spot on, although the portion size was a bit small and the pieces were tiny. Still enjoyable. • Kids Dosa – Perfect portion and taste for little ones. • Channa Bhatura – A real standout! I could really feel that authentic North Indian flavour in every bite. The bhatura was light and fluffy, and the channa was rich and perfectly spiced. • Mango Lassi – Refreshing, but slightly average in taste. • Lemon Soda (with salt) – A nice touch, but the salt level was a bit low. Thankfully, I could adjust it myself by adding some.
The prices were extremely reasonable, we paid around £35 for everything, which I thought was great value.
There is limited parking available outside, with space for approximately three cars, but it wasn’t an issue for us at the time.
Final thoughts: Despite initial doubts and the need for a bit of refurbishment or repainting or changing the lights, to brighten up the place and enhance its appeal, the food and service more than made up for it. I would happily return and recommend it to others looking for authentic South Indian cuisine in the area.
Recommendation to the owners: Consider refreshing the interior with better lighting and a more modern seating arrangement, it would truly elevate the...
Read moreMyself along with my brother went to have dosa here. Food took some to be served and the chutney provided was not good as we could tell from the taste, the coconut was expired. When we went to pay at the till, we had mentioned about the chutney for which the staff responded “ok”! Whats frustrating was the total bill was £10.70 and I only had £20 and £10 notes with me. I gave him £20 since both us didn’t had a penny coin with us. The staff refused to pay us the balance stating he cant give notes and coin balance as he will run short of money in the till! We told him, u fortunately this is what we have, he stood there and said he cant so anything! I then told him, why don’t you at least discount 0.70p so i can pay for £10 note and finish it both ways. He was like he can’t do that. I was ready to pay by card, he then took his card machine and said its not working! He kept insisting us to transfer money to their bank account. I asked him, why are making things so complicated and ever more what if I didn’t have my phone or didn’t have online banking facility, for which he kept on answering back “you have your phone with so why are talking like this, you can do it” etc! I still kept on asking what would you do in scenarios like this where there is no phone or internet etc. He didn’t even have an answer and above all what irritating was as i was there standing complaining he kept scrolling through his phone on some online shopping site! I ended up bank transferring the money and we came out. But what they did was actually frustrating and not at all a standard customer service. The management should at least keep up the standard and provide training to the staff. Never going in to this...
Read moreI was initially hesitant about ordering food for over 200 people from Dosa Village for my housewarming party. With so many catering options available, it was tough to decide, especially since food quality was my top priority. But from the very first conversation with Karthik, I had a gut feeling this was the right choice. He gave me the confidence that the food would be top-notch, and he absolutely delivered.
Not only was the pricing reasonable, but the quantity was more than generous—I ordered for 220 guests, yet the food was enough for nearly 250+people. The biggest surprise? The food stayed warm and fresh for almost 10 hours, which was perfect since we had guests arriving throughout the day.
The variety was fantastic—whether it was sambar, starters like Gobi 65, or the massive menu selection, everything had a perfect blend of flavors and truly felt like home-cooked food. And the desserts? Gulab Jamun and Poornalu were a huge hit! We had guests from different regions, and everyone loved the authentic South Indian flavors.
The whole experience was completely stress-free. Karthik kept great communication throughout, the food was delivered on time, and the best part—we didn’t have to worry about cleaning up, as they collected all the pots after the event.
If you’re planning a big gathering and want amazing food, trust me—you won’t be disappointed with Dosa Village. I’d order from them again in a...
