Came to see the classic cars and the barges . The area always seems under-used whenever I have been for events . It’s much improved from the sketchy area I had to walk through when I lived in the nearby apartments though. There are a couple of cafes and shops for refreshments and play-writes has a nice spot at the end of the row path where you can grab a drink and their food is pretty good as well . I think the whole area is a victim of being just too far out from the city center for anyone to invest in bars or clubs as to date the only one I’ve seen there has been closed up for many years . On the plus side you can see where the famous ‘the specials ‘ photos were take and it’s highlighted with an informative plaque .

Currently moored in Coventry Basin. Nice and quiet on Friday 12th July 2024. Great location to visit the city. Two nice cafes in the basin. Sadly the town centre is full of druggies occupying the benches. If you like real ales visit The Windmill pub. They had Old Parculier on draft which was awesome. Visited by narrowboat on 26th July 2023. There were other narrowboat moored in the basin. We stayed a few hours whilst we visited the Cathedral remains and the Transport Museum. We had decided not to moor overnight prior to our visit. There are two café in the basin. We had lunch that sells Portuguese food.

I've visited the basin several times by boat and have moored overnight with no problems. The area had loads of money thrown at it about 20years ago but it's starting to look a bit jaded since the boat hire base pulled out. Many of the craft/shop units are vacant which is a shame as it wouldn't take much to rejuvenate the place. If you are a non boater it's still worth a visit just to see the architecture and experience the tranquility that the waterways can bring. It's quite a novelty to go down about 10 steps to reach street level ie the canal is higher than the street.

Great Central location. We had a canal boat, a great option, and possibly a better deal than a hotel. We could walk Coventry, return for dinner, shop for food, have breakfast at the canal basin. Eat Pastel de Nata and coffee at the local Portuguese cafe. We took a bus to Nuneaton. It was all a blast, especially as we found a great Wethspoons in the centre of Coventry.

Really nice place to visit. Little bits of history and information placed around the area. We had a lovely breakfast in the far cafe right on the water. It was lovely to stand watching a couple of canal boats come and go. Take a walk over the bridge and take a look at the back end of the warehouses.
