If you want a fresh cooked Sunday roast. Find another restaurant! A very disappointing experience. My partner and I are touring the country with work and were excited to pass the lovely looking building, well presented clean and looks recently refurbished inside and out. However, the service was non existent other than our disappointing "Sunday roast" being brought to the table. I've attached photos of the waste/non edible parts of our meal. Lots of fat on the beef and more surprisingly the turkey! We chose the duo for a larger and more filling dinner. Advertised as the full works. When it arrived it was a small sized meal spread around a large plate with the gravy boat taking up some of it! The veg (and lack of).. potatoes and turkey were the worst parts! We received 1 X very sad parsnip which I could not eat because it appeared to have been sat under a heat lamp for a long while before being served! The potatoes were the same. Rubbery, dry and touch with not a single crunch to them! The only mildly edible veg that was on our plate were hard, plain garden peas. We didn't receive any carrots and weren't told that they didn't have them. The gravy was a small boat of very lumpy gravy that barely covered the veg let alone the meal. And then there's the service! We didn't have a table visit from any of the staff to ask how our meals are so I wasn't able to point out how terrible it was. I hope that these issues are sorted for future customer. I feel I've wasted £30 on our meal and drinks today and because of this I will avoid Ember Inns chain.

Just been to this pub for some lunch and have to say we were very disappointed with both the service and the food. Arrived at 12pm ordered straight away and yet considering the pub was empty see the picture i have uploaded, it took 35 minutes for the food to arrive, people that had come in after us and ordered got their food before us. When the food arrived the order was wrong, so three of us had our food and one of us had to wait for their order to be re-done so much so that when it finally arrived an hour after we had placed the order the rest of us had finished. The Sirloin Steak i had can only be described as Boot Leather is was that tough to cut. Other people a couple of tables away had to have their food taken away and re-done as well not very good at all. First and last time we will be eating in this pub.

Chipped saucers, over grilled food (even the toast was burnt!), dirty glasses, and eye-rolling from bar staff. I've been going to the Holyhead since the mid 80's, and on into the 90s when it was a destination for a great night out! In later decades, I've enjoyed going back for meals and drinks in the daytime. But sadly, that will be my last visit. There was one brilliant waitress who was really efficient and apologised for all our issues. Apart from her, the customer service from a guy working there was awful, either no training in working with customers or just didn't care. It's a shame never to return after so many great memories over the decades. Good luck to them.

I don’t usually write reviews but the fact I went to the Holyhead twice this week and both times had a really rubbish experience warranted this review.

I think the Holyhead should look at replacing the little angry old lady that works there as she’s really unpleasant. Not customer focused or friendly in any manner.

Let’s start with Tuesday evening. Myself and a few girl friends went for dinner. 4 of us ordered the Greek salad via the app. A member of staff came out and said there were no Salads so we ordered the risotto which was actually cheaper than the salad, no offer of a refund for the difference. The risotto came, a tiny starter sized portion with freezing cold blocks of feta and freezing cold tomatoes on top and hard butternut squash. It was really poor and as all 4 of us felt the same we raised it to the little lady. Instead of acting like any other manager would do and apologise and advise they would sort it right away, she became very defensive and said well isn’t feta meant to be cold? No people skills whatsoever. She told us she would get fresh ones but instead they all got nuked in the microwave and plonked back down without an apology in sight. Then we had desert. Half a scoop of ice cream appeared. I asked if I could have another half to make it a full scoop and she said I’d have to pay a pound. Which was funny as they didn’t seem fussed about refunding us for the salad to risotto difference.

Fast forward to today. I went for breakfast with my husband and 1 year old son who can’t even walk let alone gamble. He was getting restless waiting for his food so I took him over to the flashing lights on the slot machine to play with the buttons. No money entered the machine and in comes little old angry lady. She said sorry but he can’t play on that he’s not 18. I assured her that he wasn’t ‘playing’ in the form of gambling he was just pressing the lights. She said he’s not even allowed to touch it. If anyone under the age of 18 can’t even place a finger on it then let me recommend a few things to you. put it in a place where it can’t be touched, maybe an area that is for over 18s only. don’t let under 18s in your pub

She also said, ‘that’s how gambling addiction starts’ I had to laugh at this point. My son plays with things with flashing lights all day long, it’s called sensory and it’s actually great for their development. I’m not worried he’s going to get a gambling addiction at the tender age of 1 by pressing a few buttons so I don’t think you should be worried either love. She went on to say the pub could get shut down. All false claims as if any enforcement did arrive they would clearly see that he wasn’t gambling.

The fact of this whole scenario is, this lady clearly doesn’t like people or her job. She’s got a chip on her shoulder and is driving customers away with her incredibly rude behaviour.

I won’t be in a...

Previously visiting back in October, we were really happy with both our meal and service however after this evenings visit I can firmly say we won’t be returning. When we arrived we saw half the seating area empty but all had reservation plaques on them, some with at least over 3 hours away from the current time. People were walking out because of this and having no where to sit. We went to the bar to ask if we could possibly sit on one of the tables that had a reservation plaque on that was hours away as we knew we just wanted to eat and get out of there due to other plans that evening. However after standing at the bar for over 10 minutes (looked at several times by several different staff members we were actually ignored.) one staff member which we now know as the manager was the only one actually serving whilst 2 other staff members were stood at the end of the bar joking around. Eventually we took it upon ourselves to help ourselves to a reserved table that was hours away as no one had bothered answering us. Ordered our meal via the app. All arrived well and tasted mostly okay. However my partners bread and butter that we paid extra for didn’t arrive. We asked the waitress who had forgotten (absolutely fine as it was busy). She bought it out after roughly 10 minutes. We noticed there was no butter so asked her for some. She had said okay but never returned to our table. Our meals were finished and still no butter, we also noticed that the bread was stale and extremely hard around the edges. We went to complain at the bar on the way out and again were ignored by several bar staff! The waitress that had been serving us walked past us, asked if everything was alright and when we explained she silently walked off. Expecting her to return from the kitchen to deal with our complaint we then saw her starting another task and leaving us stood there without saying a thing to us! Eventually we got hold of someone at the bar by physically shouting for some attention. When we asked for the manager and explained our issues of the whole evening her response was “well we are a pub not a restaurant so I don’t know why your expecting us to help find you a table” My response was that, that was not even the issue and that the customer service throughout the whole evening coupled with the missing parts of our meal to then find it was stale is the main issue. She then sighed and gave a refund for the bread. Absolutely no compassion, no customer service. Even the poor bloke sat next to us was shunned away from the bar and told to order via the app! Very disappointing evening. We certainly won’t...
