Worst experience ever. I drove 50 miles to have a meal with my family, We booked a table for 8. On arrival my sisters were led to a booth, one of which was full of dirty plates. My sisters asked when they would be removed. She then realised that the 8 of us would not fit into a booth designed for 4 and some of us would need to sit at another. When she spoke to the manager she said that somone had moved the reserved sign to the booth and was sitting at our table. Why didn't she instruct them to move?. I then walked down to see where we were sitting and the girl clearing the tables was openly complaining about my sister's attitude in front of other customers. The anager then pulled two different sized tables together. I sat next to my partner and had to sit behind her, We then ordered the food and were told it would be at least an hour. The pub was not busy. Why would the food take an hour? I queued to order my food and saw locals walk straight to the bar and served straight away leaving those queuing to wait. Two couples walked out at this point. I ordered my food and my meal arrived first followed by the rest of my families over the next 10 minutes. When nearly all of the meals had arrived they asked if we any meal was missing. Another one of my sisters had not had hers and said so. 25 minutes later her meal arrived. At this point the rest of us had finished our meal. My sister finished our meal, at this point it was 9:20ish so we went and ordered sweets only to be told that the kitchen shut at 9pm.And this on a Friday night. We also saw people at the next table send their meals back as the staff had not got it right. The staff seem more interested in serving locals rather than everyone equally, even chatting about customers who were in earlier that day who was drunk. Not even serving drinks, placing orders at the till and eventually seeing people queuing and walking out decided to start serving and calling for help. This is the only place where I have seen up to 8 people walk out without getting served due to the poor service. I have only rated this as a one star and thats because you cant give...
Read moreHave visited the new pippin many times and never had a bad meal until last night, really wasn't impressed at all. Was with my partner and our 4 year old daughter, I had the mixed grill and my partner had the tandoori sizzler. Partners meal came out and we realised there was no cutlery or napkins so I had to get these from another table. Waited and waited for mine and my daughters food, she was getting fed up and the waiter kept walking past us with food for other tables but still hadn't acknowledged us waiting. After about ten minutes he finally came over and fair enough he did apologise and say he'd made a mistake but by this time my partner had almost finished his meal. Food came out, I wasn't impressed with the quality of the meat, all tasted cheap and I don't think it's worth £13 odd when you can get two meals for £11.99 on the same size plates. Same with my partners meal £14 pound something and it's on the same size plate as the cheapest meals. Won't be rushing back anytime soon which is a shame as I've never had a problem before but last night has really put me off
Edit So in response to the review the manager at the new pippin sent me an email to apologise and to invite us back with free meals and desserts to try and give us a better experience. We had a lovely time, they had a table reserved for us, all staff really lovely, food was great and we didn't wait long. When my partner went up to order the food they gave us the drinks for free as well. This was very kind of them and because of this we decided not to order desserts as we were happy with our experience and what we had received and didn't want to be seen as taking advantage. I have great respect for any business that is big enough to say sorry we got it wrong, please give us another chance to make things right. Because of this we will definitely return again and again. The right way to do customer...
Read moreThe bar service is okay, however the food quality is not. The tables were sticky and on well need of a clean. When we were getting drinks there was weird stuff in the bottom of the glass.
The chef's must have no clue what they are doing. My friend ordered a chicken new yorker, which is chicken breast with bacon, cheese and bbq sauce. Served with chips and peas.
Sounds nice, well my friend is unable to eat onions, which is why he chose a meal without any. However when he received his meal after waiting a long time, he discovered that it was covered in onions.
He was polite about it and informed a member of staff that there should be no onions, and even showed them the menu to prove there should be no onions.
The member of staff apologised and took the food back promising a fresh one. A few minutes later he came back with my friends food.
My friend then proceeded to eat. Just to then say, "this still tastes of onion".
He then found onion mixed in with the cheese, upon questioning this. We discovered that the chef had just simply, scraped the onion off the top and sent it back.
Now I'm sorry but I find that to be a complete disgrace. If that is what they do, imagine if they do that to someone with a serious allergy.
It is out of order.
Will not be going back there.
Everyone who had something to eat found a problem with their food, including me.
Like I said nice bar staff but apart from that, the place is...
