Shocking experience. We booked a party of eight in a week before we were due to eat. We arrived at 8pm for our booking at 8.30pm. At 9.25pm after numerous requests about what was happening we were finally seated. Other guests told us that if we ordered starters they would take up to an hour to arrive and we should just order main courses. At 10pm we had our food order taken. We only ordered main dishes. Our food arrived at 10.45pm. The food itself was rated between 5/5 and 3/5 by our party. At 11.20 a bill arrived that was £20.45 over what we had ordered. We called the waiter who acknowledged the bill was wrong and reduced it by £5. We asked to see the manager who agreed the bill was wrong but then spent nearly 15 minutes arguing that we were in the wrong. Eventually he agreed we had been overcharged and reduced the bill by the £20.45 we had told him we had been over charged. We had gone to the Lions Inn with the best of intentions of having a good night out but the whole experience was a nightmare.
I would suggest that if you intend to use the Lions Inn that you be prepared to wait an inordinate amount of time to be seated even if you have booked well ahead, that your food will take quite some time to arrive and that you triple check the final bill. Also be prepared to have to argue for some time if you do find a discrepancy on the bill. We entered the Lions Inn at 8pm and left at 11.45pm having had one...
Read moreHad a very strange night tonight. We were having a lovely meal for my daughters birthday with our two younger children aswell Our children know how to sit nicely in restaurants and were well behaved. We were having a lovely meal and the staff were nice but then bizzarly, when we ordered our desserts we were asked if we would move to another room. We thought perhaps it was a license thing although it was only 7.30pm? Anyway, we went through to the other room, but no one was there to greet us or show us to our "new table" so we sat down somewhere amongst the pile of children's shoes in the middle of the room and kids running wild arround us!!!. I can only assume that we were moved because they thought as we had children on our table we wouldn't be as annoyed being sat in there as others would? I actually queried it with the waiter and asked if we had been moved because that was a child friendly room? And he said no, you can sit in any room but they weren't expecting so many kids that night. We were enjoying a quiet family meal out in the restaurant and then it was ruined when they moved us, if we had wanted kids running around we would have gone to McDonald's. If it wasn't for this we probably would have given a higher rating as the food was lovely and we were having a lovely evening until...
Read moreA group of 4 of us had an evening meal here today as my brother and his girlfriend were visiting. I called late, booked in and we were able to get a table. Had a wonderful meal here, staff were very friendly- social distancing in place and were told to use the hand sanitizer as you went in. Originally I ordered the butter chicken- however this wasn't to my liking so I kindly told the waiter and they were so understanding- he had explained that butter chicken is always cooked differently in each Indian restaurant. He had told me what other options they could do for me as I had told them I only liked mild curries and they really quickly brought out a chicken tikka masala which was delicious. I was very happy with it. I felt really bad when I told them it wasn't to my taste but the staff went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with the dish and didn't make me feel like it was a problem.
Very friendly and lovely staff. First time visiting this restaurant and with it only being around the corner we couldn't believe we hadn't visited before. We gave the restaurant a generous tip as well for the wonderful service. Will definitely be returning and thankyou for being so...
