Fish Plaice (Tilgate) — Restaurant in Crawley

Staff are horrendous and they are NOT HALAL. They said they were Halal previous visit and I went to order today and had to pay online. They only take cash in store. After I spent an extra 75p for ordering online he clearly tell me he’s the owner and they don’t serve HALAL advising me they fry their chips with the sausages. So I immediately asked for a refund which was refused as I paid online. Kept telling me the online is a different company and I had to call them. The number on the website is the shop number and when I challenged him he got aggressive and rude. Finally I got him to call the company and apparently he cancelled my order.

I literally had to beg him to give me the receipt which he would not do and would not refund me directly. Once I challenged this he forgot how to speak English and just huffed and puffed and ran out the back. That’s nearly £14.00 down the drain. WOULD...

This used to be a great place for chips around 10 years ago. Not so much anymore. They then went to hit or miss. But during lockdown I used them 3 times and I won't be coming back. I went at dinner time, lunch time and mid afternoon. Every single time the chips were dry and tasted like they had been reheated after sitting around for a while. I thought initially it might have been the time i went but 3 different times and each time was disgusting. One time I asked for the garlic bites and was given jalapeños, despite telling the person 5 times what I wanted. Really wasn't impressed. I won't be back and I definitely do not recommend. I mean its not that hard to make chips, but it make consistently disgusting ones, its just not worth my time and money. I'll go elsewhere, even if it is...

Its very disappointing with this restaurant. Over two years ago their chicken shish was high quality however now they must have changed their supplier. The chicken is dry and the marinade is tastless. The salad has obviously been around a while as it has brown lettuce.

The cod again used to be fantastic however now the cod is dry and the batter is like cardboard.

I gave fish plaice the benefit of the doubt and ordered a lamb donner from them. I wish I didn't. The salad was old and soggy. The donner had been hanging around a while. My least favourite part was multiple trips to the toilet at 3am. Even the chips are now soggy and nasty.

They need to get the previous food supplier as now they are awful and we're once very good....
